Second in a trilogy on the theme of hurtin'
preempt:
"Everythin', is where it was,
when they come back one day."
is a vision or a hope, not a reality.
[verse 1]
It hurts, a hurt, down deep inside,
left alone, all on your own.
When pain, is impossible to hide,
each day, the loneliness has grown.
[verse 2]
Find so much, of what you've lost,
scattered throughout your life.
The little things, that remind you,
memories of when they were alive.
[chorus]
When you lose someone,
you feel your heart is gone.
When you lose someone,
it's hard for you, to go on.
[verse 3]
An old toothbrush becomes a treasure,
too valuable to throw away.
You keep it, an' caress it tenderly,
as if, each bristle held a memory.
[chorus]
When you lose someone,
you feel your heart is gone.
When you lose someone,
it's hard for you, to go on.
[verse 4]
You talk to the empty chair,
even though, no one's there.
Sittin' across the table from you,
you lay a place for them, with care.
[chorus]
When you lose someone,
you feel your heart is gone.
When you lose someone,
it's hard for you, to go on.
[bridge]
You can never let them go,
cos they never went away.
Everythin', is where it was,
when they come back one day.
[final chorus]
When you lose someone,
you feel your heart is gone.
When you lose someone,
it's hard for you, to go on.
[outro]
The years, pass slowly by,
you no longer, set a place.
The talks get less an' less.
soon you'll talk, face to face.

@sidshovel - excellent lyrics.. very profound.. I disagree with a part of the outro.. sometimes I still talk to my wife.. ;)

That's lovely Bill, reminds me of a tv series about three old detectives solving cold cases. One of them a widower, built a shrine to his late wife in his garden and talked to her about his day every evening, I thought back then, how sweet that concept was. Good for you.

Very tender and emotional. You've definitely got the hurt coming through.
I'd like the chorus to be longer. maybe have a line that varies each time before finishing on "when you lose someone"
I think there's room to really wail out the bridge, but hard to get AI to follow that sort of directive I expect.
Nicely done, Sid.

Now that's an interesting concept and I will definitely have a go at using that suggestion in the next few songs.
As always, very helpful going forward,
As to Ai and wailing, it leaves that to its frustrated users.
Thank you,
Sid

Bravo! Your lyrics paint the painful picture that most of us know perfectly, love the outro.
