Don't Close That Door (acoustic demo)
So last night I had this little snippet in my head, I couldn't even tell you the name of the song or the artist, but it was from an old 60s song, and they used a triplet very prominently in the chorus, and for some reason, that idea just stuck with me and I ended up borrowing that idea and expanding it into a full song, with my typical heavy dosage of 6th and 7th chords. I think this one could have some potential for a full recording, but as always, I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts.

You're right Tommy, it does have potential for a full recording, a lot of potential.
Wonderful piece, like all yours, picks you up and carries you away to a forgotten place, where you want to stay forever.

Really nice and smooth. I found this song to be well executed and is as concise as it gets. No flowery shrubs as a detraction. The depth of emotional connection is strong too. The chorus opening line + 1/2, are perfect and set up the plea so beautifully in it. 'don't close that door' - I can almost hear the door slam as she walks out.
One small thing I 'felt' as I went over the lyrics and heard the song was this verse:
" If you must go, I won’t get in your way
Though my life will be spent in regret, with each passing day"
The third line seems a little too long for the verse and could be rephrased something like:
If you must go, I won't get in your way
My life is spent in regret, with each passing day
Truly well done.
Critiquing your guitar work I can't say much but I enjoyed it very much and 'feel' you can play considering the complexities I heard. Sorry I can't comment in depth on it before you choose studio or not. Hopefully you'll get a few others here to comment in more depth.

Hey Sid, yep, I love those dreamy, nostalgic vibes, and I know you do as well, so I'm glad this one worked for you there 🙂 I already had other songs potentially lined up, but I like this one enough that I think I'm going to record it next. Thanks for listening, I'm glad you liked it! To your suggestion for the verse, I think it does have to be future tense - she hasn't walked out just yet, so the regrets are still to come. But I do get your suggestion for a shorter line because it's a mouthful to sing haha. Maybe something like "Though regrets will haunt me so, with each passing day"? I'lll experiment with it and see what I come up with. Thanks for that suggestion, and yeah, I think I'm definitely going to record it now, like i told Sid. I'm excited to come up with an arrangement for it.
