A song about addiction

[Verse 1]

I am the raven

That flew to the moon

[Refrain]

I am the God

That died in war

[Verse 2]

I kissed the sun

Burnt my soul

[Refrain]

I am the God

That died in war

[Verse 3]

Tried being strong

Weakness led me wrong

[Refrain]

I am the God

That died in war

[Verse 4]

Listened to false prophets

Who led me astray

[Refrain]

I am the God

That died in war

[Outro]

Kneeling at the gate

To learn my fate

It was my God

That took my mortality

Fascinated by the extremely simple and short lyric. I suspect it's going to make an incredible song. I'm going to listen now.

As excellent as I thought it would be.

  • Thanks :). I was concerned about that too, but it worked :)

  • Not sure a addict would be a God , but why not

The addict isn't a god. it's the addiction that's the god.

  • Ahh

  • Hmmm God is the Addiction , how can God be weak ?

  • In the song, ‘God’ isn’t a deity. It’s the thing that takes over your life and demands everything from you. Addiction behaves like that,

    I am the addiction raven

Like a God that died in a drug war

You'd also have to separate this person and addiction God to make sense

That's your interpretation, but I don't define what the god is, the war is, or if the war is won or not. I'm letting the listener decide for themselves the meaning, Addiction can be anything, and how you deal with addiction can be anything.

ok, But the diety is what people are going to think. Unless you explained Addiction is like God . Right now, its vague - Then that's what they get. this is an open-ended song. if they think God is a deity and they are addicted to this deity, then the logic still applies. There are zealots that every year flog themselves in a procession as penitence.

You'd also have to separate this person and addiction God to make sense - No, they are one in the same. you become the addiction, whatever that is. they are not separate entities.

This is the difference between a true prog/experimental song and an outlaw country song. outlaw country is binary. good vs evil, etc. this isn't that. Outlaw country - I got drunk on whiskey, went home, banged my wife.--- prog - I drunk something, went somewhere and banged something :)

This isn't a song that's going to be played in bars. this is a song that's going to be played in incense burning coffee houses where people sit cross-legged on worn persian carpet, sipping chai tea and reading poetry nobody understands but pretends to :)

This whole song is about the self, dealing with addiction

  • There is not one line this about addiction , only in your story your telling now

It's implied Elvis. Either you get it or you don't. This isn't a song where I TELL you. That's your world. this world is different. this song is different. This song was never intended to be mainstream. Quite frankly the way I wrote it, doesn't necessarily have to be about addiction. It could be about your job, relationship, etc. however it makes you feel.

When I posted this song on Audius, I didn't specify, I just posted the song as is. As a result, 22 views / 22 favs / 22 reposts, those 22 people decided for themselves what the song was about and how it made them feel.

On Suno, again, I never said what the song was about and 10 likes out of 23 views that's ~43%. Those 10 people got whatever they want out of it. the other 13. passed, which is ok.

Since outlaw country is outside my wheelhouse, I had Claude AI, write an outlaw country song, what do you think

I Am The God That Died In War

    I rode into the darkness

On a bottle and a prayer

    Whiskey was my gospel

    Devil didn't care

I kissed the sun at midnight

    Burnt my soul to ash

    Tried to outrun judgment

    But judgment's always fast

    Knelt down at the crossroads

    Asked the lord my fate

Found out I was the devil

    Standing at my own gate

I am the god that died in war

    Fighting demons at my door

Won some battles, lost the war

I am the god that died in war😀😂

Ha ha ha , Sheesh it was just a thought

Claudes a bit cliche . I liked the God of war line

I've got a pissed off customer and boss with 14 pianos coming . So I have to drive 6 hours and calm everybody down . City people are always in a rush and live for deadlines . There is 18k hanging over one room not being done

But I hope the cowboy makes it
