I'm back. Original song "Story of an Englishman"
I've been out for many months. Recently I discovered that if I put my original music into Suno it does an amazing job of creating a cover song of it. It's actually miraculous compared to the fact that I would never have been able to get that sound without a professional studio, producer and a lot of money. This cost me nothing! Here is one that I think you'll like. Am I right?

There really is no comparison.
The guitar work in the original is as good as sunos' version, except for the end where it goes off the rails,
What Suno can't capture due to its programming, because it's programmed to smooth out the data and normalize, which means dropping the outliers, is to capture the authenticity of the original track.
Suno is no different than using a DAW, Suno just automates the process.
Do you use a DAW?

Welcome to Suno . Cost one penny , studios 700.00
Sounds good man

I don't know about DAW. Personally I dont have a lot of time right now to learn about it. I like Suno but yea it has that fakeness about it. But it probably will get better and I can see how each track could be managed to get the sound you want, or at least in the right direction. To me it sounds like something you would hear on a radio station or in a store. Suno makes everything perfect, albeit, maybe too perfect.

Suno is good for demos, but there are challenges with monetization.
0 -
People will pay for it because it sounds identical to anything else on the radio, at least in sound quality. The trick is marketing. Making your own luck is the way to go.

The issue is that most of the labels won’t touch it because there is an issue with the fact that some of the song samples are in the private domain, which is why the labels have sued both suno and udio0

I'm just talking about original recordings being fed into Suno. Are the covers that are generated violate copyrights in some cases? I don't know enough about it to know for sure. It appears original songs would be fully protected.

I think you are safe, but there is one caveat that Suno can sample your song. the clause is buried in the user agreement.

I did a little looking into and I believe I read somewhere that if you use the free version you don't own the copyright but have the license to use it but can't use it commecially, i.e. make money from it.
0 -
that's correct, you need the pro version to be able to monetize, which is worth it.

Quite a good song!
About Suno and AI, I do think it does a good job, but AI doesn’t have feeling, it kind of takes the soul out of songs. I think using AI is great to show how the song/lyrics could sound, but it still needs a real singer with a real voice to truly bring it to life. I hope someday I find someone interested in singing my lyrics.

People do not buy music . The best you could get is downloads on Spotify that people pay for some many songs a month to add to their list . This is a AI song and not an artist song of a real person . If you paid session players and you sung it , now it would be considered an artist song that you could promote.
Thats a big problem people lying its a real person , but in fact in made up person , using fake AI pics .
Let's focus on the positive for a moment , Its true that Suno can make radio ready songs with a good melody that could compete with radio songs . The trick is to use the production ideas and cut it with pros session players and sing it your self
Now you have a legitimate artist song of a real person
0 -
You need to cut it your yourself , or its an mis interpretation of something Suno created .
You will not sell the song and professional publishers do not take AI songs, its still considered stolen property by industry professionals

But AI songs can still go viral and even make it onto the Billboard charts
0 -
Yes thats been known to happen . But not as artist song and human . That is a artificial person and sometimes represented as a real person , its a lie .
0 -
Yeah. My only issue with AI is that it doesn’t have a soul, sometimes the songs lack real emotion. But the lyrics are still made by humans, and a lot of people who create AI songs have real talent. About AI production, in my opinion, that’s all fine. If the lyrics are good and the singer sounds good I really don’t care if it was produced by AI

Thats not the point , AI phony artist pay one penny . That is machines
They did not play it sing it or write it . They did one thing push a button
Humans pay whatever the going rate is on recording costs . That is humans
Do you catch the unfair playing field ?
You cut the tracks sing it release it and try to not compare your self to machines , Best you can do .
As a wise session player told me once , Never pass up a chance to use the bathroom . You might pee your pants at the Safeway Check out stand

Thanks. Isn't it good? I think its one of my best ever. If I heard it on the radio I would like it. It's not Genesis or Led Zeppelin but it's really good.
I agree that takes the soul out but that may change in the future. I look at AI as like a major music producer who I gave my song to and this is what I got back. It's like having George Martin at your command for free!
I'm currently listening to another song of "mine" with headphones and I'm totally amazed. It's a miracle. I could never do that. Never.

Suno can do an amazing version of your song and give you a very polished sound, well beyond what an average Joe like me can create. I do find it's better to write the music yourself first, then get an AI to cover it, rather than let it create anything it wants - keeps more of the soul in it.
That's a solid track. I enjoyed my listen.

Yes, if you listen to the original and the AI cover you can see that it kept the song completely recogizable but added a high degree of sophistication and polish to it.

Hey there Rob... I've been making covers since August of last year. I love it.
Your cover is great

I really don't agree Suno took the soul out, most are very polished singers and the emotion is intact . The only problem you can not use the song as an artist song . But I see zero writers doing Youtube pages , so it really does not matter

If you want, post a link to your covers I would like to hear how yours came out.

They are on soundcloud... my song, "It's Over" is as good as any. To hear the rest, you would have to have a Soundcloud account.

Do you have a link?

"It's Over" is posted here on the TSF original songs board... Listed just a few songs down. Here is a link to "How The Story Ends"

AI made it perfect. The vocals, the guitar, the sound, everything. I wonder what this means for the future of recorded muisc?
