Brave Till The Clothes Come Off

Verse 1
I can talk real big in a barroom chair
Boots on solid, ego full of air
But the minute that zipper hits halfway down
I’m reconsiderin’ every life choice now
Got a scar I forgot, got a mirror I hate
Standing there like, “Man… was this a mistake?”
I was smooth all night, had my game all right
Till gravity showed up uninvited tonight
Pre-Chorus
Funny how confidence starts to stall
Right about the time that the clothes start to fall
Chorus
Everybody’s brave till the clothes come off
Then it’s nerves and jokes and a nervous cough
Tryna act cool like we planned this stuff
But naked ain’t natural, naked’s rough
Yeah we talk real strong, we front real tough
Everybody’s brave till the clothes come off
Verse 2
She said “Don’t look,” while I did anyway
I said “You look fine,” like that fixed my face
We’re both standin’ there makin’ jokes too fast
Like humor might save us from what’s about to happen next
There’s socks on the floor, there’s a light too bright
There’s a silence hangin’ there that don’t feel right
We both laugh hard just to break the spell
Like this ain’t awkward as hell
Pre-Chorus
Ain’t nobody sexy when the truth gets raw
We’re all just guessin’ once the clothes are gone
Chorus
Everybody’s brave till the clothes come off
Then it’s angles and shadows and stallin’ thoughts
We act like we know what we’re doin’ but nah
Naked ain’t natural, naked’s odd
Yeah we preach self-love, yeah we talk that talk
But everybody’s brave till the clothes come off
Bridge
Ain’t in the movies, ain’t slow and sweet
It’s two real people and creaky knees
Tryna remember what comes next
Hopin’ nobody’s expectations get hurt
Last Chorus
Everybody’s brave till the clothes come off
Then it’s “Is this okay?” and “Hold on, stop”
Still we try, yeah we give it a shot
Laugh our way through the parts we forgot
Love ain’t perfect, bodies ain’t soft
Everybody’s brave till the clothes come off
Tag / Button
Yeah love looks better with the lights down low…
And a good sense of humor when the clothes come off

cool take, funny and true. prefect song style for this.
the one line i thought could be better. 'love aint perfect, bodies ain't soft" in my experience by that age bodies are definitely getting softer in places. 😅

haha great song, so real situation!! The nakedness that comes with age and health issues should be contemplated through the eyes of a child who naturally accepts the accidents of the terrain they explore. LOL
Great song Elvis.
