You mentioned that this is a "rescue". Have you tried running this through a Suno AI Cover? ie keep the lyrics and melody as you wrote them, but try for a full production version of it? Not sure of your stance on AI, so hope that isn't an offensive suggestion, but it came to mind given your comment.

Yes- I have considered that - I have just not had the time to play with Suno but that is on my list with some upcoming time off work
