Help for the Technologically Unsound
Been a while. Hope you're all doing well! I've still been writing, but with work and school, online time has been at a minimum.
So, I can't sing worth a damn. Just not in me. I've seen that some of you have been experimenting with some AI methods, so I'm curious. Is there any sort of program (preferably one I won't need to mortgage my house for) where I could record my bad vocals and have AI take it and turn it into something that sounds good, or at least decent enough for it to be a scratch demo?

There are two basic approaches:
- Have autotune improve your vocal
- Have generative AI create a separate vocal using your recording as input
Neither is perfect. Autotune is an established technique, and can help you get on pitch, but it will likely sound unnatural, and won't change the tone and timbre of your voice if that's an issue.
AI Song generators like UDIO and Suno offer advanced features under their paid schemes where you can upload a track and use that as input instead of, or as well as a lyric and a prompt. The resulting song should be like your recording but it won't be identical. I haven't used this function so can't comment on the quality. Subscription prices vary from around $10 to $30 per month depending on what option you pick.

there are programs that can change your voice but they are not free and require you to know how to use the program and pretty much be a producer as you change individual things like pitch and tone, Ai programs are available but they are really only autotune or they impose a licensed voice over the top of yours to make the voice not yours.
I've been told that if your not comfortable with your voice to sing quiter, the less strain the better your voice but then you need to find away to increase the volume of the voice when adding music if your mixing them together.
