[intro]
[verse 1]
He's wanted in three States,
protected by as many gangs.
If you need stuff, he sold in kilos,
he didn't bother sellin' grams.
[verse 2]
A reputation he tries to live down,
scars on his face, an' back.
In Reno he was ran off the road,
only he survived the attack.
[chorus]
I'm havin' good times with a bad man,
makin' the most of what I'm due.
So many people want to kill him,
if I'm there, they'll get me too.
[verse 3]
We stay, in the best hotels,
rooms by the fire escape.
To say he travels light's, a joke,
a gun, an' rolls of duct tape.
[chorus]
I'm havin' good times with a bad man,
makin' the most of what I'm due.
So many people want to kill him,
if I'm there, they'll get me too.
[verse 4]
Calls the Maitre d', by his first name,
he checks who comes an' go's.
If he sees anyone actin' strange,
my man's the first to know.
[chorus]
I'm havin' good times with a bad man,
makin' the most of what I'm due.
So many people want to kill him,
if I'm there, they'll get me too.
[bridge]
The meetin' had just ended,
bags of money on the floor.
"Room Service, shouted the Maitre d',
he stood nervously outside the door.
[chorus]
I'm havin' good times with a bad man,
makin' the most of what I'm due.
So many people want to kill him,
if I'm there, they'll get me too.
[outro]
What sounded like two pops,
my man fell down to his knees.
The shooter's face was white,
then he turned the gun on me.

A bit like me...wanted in three counties!! Good words as usual, and the Ai> Can't really argue with it, except the autotune thing. But that's just me. Nice one Sid.😀

I like the story, but the AI vibe feels off to me on this one. It's too nice and sweet. I'd try for something more like Richard Thompson's 1952 Vincent Black Lightning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0kJdrfzjAg (in case you don't know it).

Thanks for pointing me in a good direction, preferred his beeswing over 1952 though. Ex Fairport, I'll check out some of his other songs. Might try it with a Lucinda Williams feel, take your point, probably a more earthy feel needed.

Ha ha..How well you know me young man!! 😂
I had to double check but, yeah, David Ruffin's the singer I meant. So said, all the Motown singers were great.
