River of no return
River of no return
verse
I was swept along in the river of life.
I braved the rapids and falls.
There were many a time I thought I would die.
Escaped when death came to call.
Pre chorus
I saw faces of friends, faces of foes.
Some died and some moved on.
The river keeps flowing regardless of
who’s alive and who’s gone.
chorus
What’s past is past, there's no going back.
Life’s the river of no return.
There are no bridges back to the past.
Life’s the river of no return.
verse
I’ve been like a boat without oars or rudder.
Couldn’t change the course of fate.
I’ve tumbled along, fumbled along.
made mistake after mistake.
pre chorus
I’ve known people who hate, people who love.
people who did not care.
Some made it big but most of them failed.
most thought life wasn’t fair.
chorus
What’s past is past. there’s no going back.
Life’s the river of no return.
There are no bridges back to the past.
Life’s the river of no return.
Bridge
Some may perish along the way.
and some may reach the sea.
but you can’t swim against the current.
The past is history.

Wonderful imagery in this one. You're really getting a lot from the river metaphor.
As a thought "I’ve tumbled along, fumbled along" ~ "I've stumbled, tumbled, fumbled along"
Good stuff.
