SEND ME DOWN THE LINE
The streets of this town are empty and the worlds a midnight blur
By morning I'll be making time 1000 miles from here
And the dashboard clocks grows restless ticking the hours away
Between love, despair and happiness I keep making the same mistake
My eyes are closing but I can see the signs
All roads are open so
Send me down the line
In a dream I felt a fury like some 60s magazine
Burning flags and silver guns with flowers in between
And all this time I'm thinkin' man I can't believe myself
Falling so far so fast like a bucket down a well
My heart is open as I dare to sip her wine
All roads are to nowhere so
Send me down the line
Sometimes when you're lonely and there's no place to go
Except to jump into some stranger's arms and listen to the radio
All songs are strange ones that I never heard before
No bridges and no chorus just three repeated dangling chords
Truth is understanding and sometimes its hard to find
All roads are shadowed so
Send me down the line
Couldn't here the final words they rang like a mission bell
Between anger, resolution, life and living hell
And seconds became hours and days became years
Anger became loneliness and the lonely cry no tears
I can't keep holding on you see I'm out of time
All roads are destiny so
Send me down the line
Howdy, Stranger!
