Break My Will

This one is almost 20 years old - the recording is from 2005(!)
I remember when 20 year old home recordings could be identified by the sound quality...
BREAK MY WILL
Took pictures for the government to process and release
Took bribes from my attorney who was later found was deceased
Took heart in little things like the rising of the sun
Took no offense when word came down that the job was still undone
What’s it gonna take to finally break my will
Got no more to give, gonna drink my fill
Takes fifty three men drivin’ fifty seven trucks
Takes thirty eight concubines stuffin’ twelve hockey pucks
Takes nothing to forgive but everything to deceive
Takes one man to steal and still another man to receive
What’s it gonna take to finally break my will
Got no more to give, they’re coming in for the kill
Give all kinds of advice on how to break your daily bread
Give all kinds of hints planting visions in your head
Give until it hurts and do it til the bleeding stops
Give a stroke to your accountant until your lawyer drops
What’s it gonna take to finally break my will
Got no more to give, so I’ll be perfectly still
Gave my woman so many fits but I’m just trying to survive
She gave me two or three more chances says she'll skin me alive
Gave so many answers until the questions ran off the page
Gave at the office but still won’t be paid a decent wage
What’s it gonna take to finally break my will
Got no more to give, I’m gonna jump from my window sill
Got nothing more than I had here when I came
Got no money in my pocket but a lot more of the blame
Got my fingers cut off while I was reaching in the till
Still I don’t know what its gonna take to finally break my will
What's it gonna take to finally break my will...

Strange one this! I don't claim to understand what the song is about but it does grip you.
It leaves your head spinning but doesn't give you enough to latch on to.
If I may quote, "Took no offense when word came down that the job was still undone".
I like it very much, just wish I knew what it was about.

Love that funky rhythm!
Feels like the sound of the words is far more important than their meaning here.
Love the pause/ending after "perfectly still".
And yes, the joys of digital recordings that don't degrade!

I love the feel here. If you had the original midi files you could do a much bigger, more modern production. I don't really understand the lyrics either, but it all fits together as it should. Yeah, a great track. I enjoyed listening.
