You Promised Me Lyrics

Put out your hand
Told me you understand
I still have to believe
This is God's plan

Cos you promised me this time
No more lying
no more interference
I can't help but thinking

Pull at my heart strings
Tell me to compete for this thing
I wanted all my life
I really want to be a wife

So yeah go ahead
And sell my dreams short
Keep letting them bounce
The ball out of our court
Yeah I never believed in divorce
So I'll let them call me a hookers escort

Don't go confusing
Thinking it's amusing
To have a thief in disguise
Just two letters short
Of disgust
We never did discuss

All my dreams

You promised me this time
No more lying
No more interference
I can't hell but thinking

Pull at my heart strings
Tell me to compete for this thing
I wanted all my life
I really long to be a wife

So yeah go ahead and sell my dreams short
Let them bounce our ball out of our court
Never was one to believe in divorce
Ill let strangers that don't know me
Call me a hookers escort

Cos so clearly strangers can see
Strangers be thinking they know me & my story
Staring at a screen clearly that makes me, a hookers escort

Very cool lyrics, Kayla! These are profound lyrics that make a strong statement. There is plenty to like but I'd say these are my favorite lines:

    Don't go confusing

    Thinking it's amusing

To have a thief in disguise

    Just two letters short

    Of disgust

    We never did discuss

I'm not sure what you meant in this line... typo?

    I can't hell but thinking

I can't help but thinking? I'm definitely not the spelling police, but I wanted to be sure I understood your meaning. Regardless, well done! I can imagine Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders belting out these lines to a fast beat in the 80s. 😀

    Cheers,

    Joseph

  • Nice work Kayla!

There's good structure to this. And as a result, I feel a driving rhythm to it. And anytime you start to get any sort of feeling for the music just by reading the lyric, I think that's a good sign.

My fav lines are the same as Joseph's, I think you've nailed that bit.

    Good stuff.
