What love looks like

What love looks like
verse
Don’t laugh at my awkward advances.
Don’t tease me because I'm shy.
I was raised by religious parents
with critical judging eyes.
pre chorus
I’ve never met a woman like you before.
So adventurous and carefree.
I imagine I seem like a foolish kid.
A young bird trying out its wings.
chorus
Teach me to fly, teach me to fly.
Show me what love looks like.
verse
I know that I lack experience
but I’ll get better with time.
Teach me that pleasure is not a sin.
show me that love is divine.
pre chorus
I’ve never met a woman like you before;
adventurous and carefree.
I imagine I seem like a foolish kid.
A young bird trying out its wings.
chorus
Teach me to fly, teach me to fly.
Show me what loving is like.
bridge
My father was a poor example.
My mother was a cold shrew.
Teach me compassion and tenderness.
I want to learn love from you.

  • I like how "A young bird trying out its wings." leads into "Teach me to fly, teach me to fly."

    But my favorite lines are:

Teach me that pleasure is not a sin.

show me that love is divine.

    Suggestions:

    I imagine I seem ➡️ I must seem

but I’ll get better ➡️ but I'll get there, (though that's probably 50/50)

In the bridge, it might be nice if the last line was "I want to learn what love looks like" to reinforce the title. If so, you might change the prev line to be "My mother was cold as ice" for the near rhyme.

    Feels solid to me.
