The taste

The Taste/ Loserville
Verse
There’s a place they call Loserville
Where the broken hearted go.
I’ve passed thru there a time or two.
Saw a few people I know.
I saw Envy I saw Hatred
Sitting on their barroom stools.
Drinking from a glass of Pity.
Calling the rest of us fools.
Pre chorus
I told them so long see you later
But I knew it was a lie.
I could see myself in their mirror.
Knew that their fate was mine.
Chorus
I’ve poured Pity from that same bottle.
I’ve quit but I miss the taste.
Was bitter but brought me solace.
In a world that I can’t face.
I’ve poured Pity from that same bottle.
I’ve quit but I miss the taste.
Verse
There’s a place they call Loserville
Where the lonely people go.
I pass thru there from time to time
When I’m feeling kinda low.
I see heartbreak I see sorrow
Drinking with their buddy Blue.
Complaining that life’s unfair
Knowing the opposites true.
Bridge
Pity’s a bottomless well.
Heart break a thirsty soul.
Liquor’s a home for losers
Who have no place to go.
Tag
I’ve poured Pity from that same bottle.

  • I like how you turn Pity, Hate etc into anthropomorphic figures. Gives the song a unique slant.

In V2 I think you might try changing the first couple of lines a bit more just to give it some variation from V1. "And that place they call Loserville" or something like that. I can see it already has some differences.

In the chorus on this line "I’ve poured Pity from that same bottle" the 2nd time I feel like you should drop "that". Can't explain why. Maybe it's just variation again.

But all around it feels like a good write to me.
