The chorus frames the situation negatively:

which may be exactly your message, but if you wanted the song to have more positive impact you could switch to Can we forgive, can we forget etc.

I'd probably change "Only difference in us;" to "Only thing between us", but I suspect that's just a personal preference rather than a genuine improvement.
