Au Revoir To Adios - Complete song (Collaboration sidshovel & ChrisPrice)
A collaboration with @sidshovel - a great lyricist. His original words are here – I left out a couple of words when I sang it to make it fit. His words are a real inspiration - a talented guy.
I’ve created a new discussion as this is now a complete song. (Not sure if this is the right way to go. RDM – please make adjustments if you see fit)

A Bourbon Street bar on a wet afternoon
rain falling, people calling, water pooling in the road
Up on the balcony, I'm watching, what's left of the day drown
Springsteen's voice laments the passing of old Tom Joad
The smell of Cajun chicken wafts across the boards
A smooth laid back voice asked "Is this seat free".
We shared our life stories going backwards and forwards
Lights went out, we went to bed, clock showed just past three.
I could never say no, to that laid back voice
She got whatever she wanted, Rita was always the boss
From New Orleans to Santa Fe, I didn't have a choice
I've got time to learn new languages now, au revoir to adios
Rita and I challenged substance abuse, for a month without a care
Rising at the break of dusk, tequila with a side of toast
Partying till the cleaners came, pills gave us energy to spare
Nearly busted by the cops, we paid the bill, and headed for the coast
I could never say no, to that laid back voice
She got whatever she wanted, Rita was always the boss
From New Orleans to Santa Fe, I didn't have a choice
I've got time to learn new languages now, au revoir to adios
On our way to San Diego, we stopped in Santa Fe, Rita liked the name
She new a couple of words in Spanish, and she used them every day
Soon we got friendly with the locals, who knew how to play the game
The Sheriff soon marked our card, and we were raided by the D.E.A.
Rita got sent North and I was jailed in New Mexico
I started learning Spanish since I had no where else to go
I could never say no, to that laid back voice
She got whatever she wanted, Rita was always the boss
From New Orleans to Santa Fe, I didn't have a choice
I've got time to learn new languages now, au revoir to adios

Very solid collaboration @ChrisPrice and @sidshovel ! A strong track! Excellent production, mix, music, and vocals, Chris! You brought Sid's sharp lyrics to life. The spoken middle portion was clever and unique. I enjoyed listening! Nice work! 😀
Cheers,
Joseph

I like that a lot. I like the pauses and holds, and rhythmic bumps, as well...
Especially this verse.

Thanks for kind words. Not sure what you mean about the drums. Do you mean the drum sound or the drum beats?

How i said, i can`t tell for sure. I listened to it over and over and the more i listened it became better... maybe it was the first impression that stuck with me.

No worries. I've had a listen again and I can't hear anything wrong with the drums. I'll see if anyone else comments about it.😀
