Issue De Secours
This is the 2nd track from my upcoming acoustic EP. Issue De Secours is French for emergency exit and the song was very loosely inspired by a recent weekend away in Paris with my daughter.
Issue De Secours
Words and music by Chris Price ©2023
Went down to the river and it was flowing backwards
I looked down at the sky, to the east was a golden sunset
The universe is in suspension, I fall into a new dimension
Show me the door, issue de secours
Went down to the market and everything there was free
the trader said with a cynical grin, you can take my money
The world it turns the wrong way round, what goes up now hits the ground
Show me the door, issue de secours
Something’s wrong in this town
everything is upside down
Solitude fits like a glove
As we all fall out of love
Went down to the river and it was flowing backwards
I looked down at the sky, to the east was a golden sunset
Went down to the market and everything there was free
the trader said with a cynical grin, you can have all my money
The world it turns the wrong way round, what goes up now hits the ground
Show me the door, issue de secours

Very loosely indeed I hope! I like all the various references to things as their opposites.
It's a strong groove. Interesting to forego any percussion. There is some delicate guitar work there that might get lost I suppose. I'm a bit 50/50 on it.
Like the bridge, that's a highlight for me.
Probably room for a solo if you wanted one.
As always, a beautiful mix and a very enjoyable song.

Neat idea. Last time I saw the Seine, it wasn't flowing backwards, but what if it was.....
It's a neat idea, a kind of dream, and it pulled me in, along with the catchy melody. Well performed and produced too. I went back and listened again. A big thumbs up from me.
Strangely, we have both posted songs here inspired by viewing rivers in French cities in the company of a daughter LOL.

No, trust me..the Seine wasn't flowing backwards. Just as well as the highlight of our weekend was a lovely meal on a short river cruise. Who knows what might have happened had the flow suddenly changed direction!! Indeed I recall your songs about France..and daughter!! We went over there to do the sites, but also to see a French rock band who I really rate. We had a great time. We had a bit too much to drink, and I got about 3 songs out of it! What more could I ask for?!!

@ChrisPrice LOL. Can't ask for more than that. I'm off to see my other daughter in New York shortly. Plans include a rock concert, and we will certainly have a bit too much to drink. Maybe the East River will inspire me.
Depending on how much you actually had to drink, I think we might hazard a guess as to what made the Seine look like it was flowing backwards.

A nice retro vibe here @ChrisPrice. Some nice guitar and the doubling up of vocals is very effective in spots.

What a great sound. Love the atmosphere. You are on a level that Cecilio and Kapono had, back in the day. Just a bright, energized piece of music.
Terrific!
