My, My, My... My Hurricane

Here is a worktape of the latest song I've been working on:

“MY, MY, MY… MY HURRICANE”

VERSE 1:

Oh, you…

I’ve got you burned inside my brain.

I’m weak in my knees, can’t find my feet,

and it’s driving me insane.

VERSE 2:

And you…

woke something that I can’t explain.

I’m searching for strength to rise again,

or I’ll regret it for all my days.

CHORUS:

And, holy moly… the wind is roarin’…

And, holy moly… the rain is pourin’…

But holy moly, moly, what a powerful sight to see…

…you’re, my, my, my…

…my hurricane.

VERSE 3:

And you…

you’re my little hurricane.

Lord give me the strength to rise against

my fears before I go insane.

VERSE 4:

But you…

you knock me off my feet again.

It’s happened before, but this time I’m sure

I’m gonna need you for all my days.

CHORUS:

And, holy moly… the wind is roarin’…

And, holy moly… the rain is pourin’…

But holy moly, moly, what a powerful sight to see…

…you’re my, my, my…

…my hurricane.

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

CHORUS / OUTRO:

And, holy moly… the wind is roarin’…

And, holy moly… the rain is pourin’…

But holy moly, moly, what a powerful sight to see…

…you’re my, my, my…

…my hurricane.

  • I like the rhythm and vibe of this. Found myself bopping along to it.

My main suggestion would be to try to differentiate the chorus more from the verse musically. Feels like they're using common chords / melody at the start there.

I like the hurricane metaphor, and you're already using it in several places, but there may be room to say in what way she is like a hurricane. You've got something like that in v4 with you knock me off my feet again, but it would be cool if it was in the chorus and came straight after the hurricane line itself. The rain is pourin and  powerful sight to see… phrases don't feel quite as closely connected to a hurricane to me.

But this is something I would definitely listen to!
