  • That's an old video too.. I know some dj's and edm artists are creating music in Suno, then stemming it out and mixing those into their sets. Again, the issue comes down to copyrighting. when you send your lyrics to your session musicians, you own the rights as it's an original piece of music. Your session musicians are not going to take an existing song and adapt your lyrics, so that the only difference is the lyrics. When you create something in Suno, you have no control over the output. You're at the mercy of a computer program generating thousand up thousands of songs. It doesn't have a memory. What happened to me is just that. I happened upon a song that sounded just like mine. Voice and melody. When I played them at the same time, the only distinction was the lyrics. So, who owns the copyright to the song? His came out first, so he could claim Infringement. Yet, neither of us have control over how Suno generates the music. Begs the question, how many other songs were created from the same template. So no, using Suno is not the same as using studio musicians

  • I'm glad I'm retired , There's a lot going on with Suno I want no part of

  • I don't blame you, honestly. I'm in the tech industry, so I find this fascinating. I'm curious to see where this is going.

I'm sure it will be humans interacting with robots on how the tracks will sound , Who knows where this is going in years to come . I'm sure $$$$ is the driving force

  • Of course $$$$ is the driving force. And once Suno figures out that magic number, the studios will back down and suddenly embrace it.

  • Probably , hard to say

What's not being pointed out is that these people are not responding with millions of hits, because it's just the greatest song they ever heard

It's cause they already know it's ai, THAT'S what's causing the attention.

If somebody just posted a song done by ai, it would probably get a hundred hits.

in the end what will matter is how good it is. This is not good, neither is velvet sundown.

Most people visit to mock it

I think the Velvet sundown songs are as good as radio songs and as good as any forum songs . At least they created a band with pictures . you'll probably see more AI bands as time passes

Quick note in case someone misses it when they listen to Rick. This video was made and posted two years ago.

  • It’s still relevant today

That IS a valid perspective. It's not the only possible perspective.

  • Talking about AI is beating a dead horse , its only to get worse for paid session players in the real business world of music

I'm a little lost. Could you explain how "talking about A.I. is beating a dead horse?" And, wasn't it you who started this thread, which you have now labelled to be an unproductive subject?

  • maybe at the time on posting Ricks vid I thought it was relevant

It's old news really . writers use it and it's here to stay , Whatever I feel about stolen tracks is unimportant

I knew you had the best of intentions and that you thought it was relevant when you posted it. I know I can trust your intentions.
