Dress Rehearsal
https://hearthis.at/elvis-nash-xk/dress-rehearsal-v.-2-5-1/
I wish as a kid I didn’t act like I had it all figured out
Could’ve told my dad I was wrong at times but all I did was shout
I shoulda let my little brother win at least one wrestling match
And Listened to them teachers a lot more in every class
Chorus
If life was a dress rehearsal, I could get everything just right
And every star would line up and shine down like a Northern light
I’d fix my broken dreams
Not live on what should have been
My mistakes wouldn’t be keeping me up at night
If life was a dress rehearsal, I could get everything just right
V2
I wish i wasn’t all that shy and asked that pretty girl out
But she left town off too college its really much to late now
I lost touch with a few good friends after taking that job on the coast
They say you can never go back home according to the old folks
Chorus
Bridge
Clocks don’t rewind and go back to the beginning
But it sure be nice to see each day
Without all the second-guessing
Chorus

@ElvisNash - Is it me or, is this not following a typical rhyming convention pushing you more into the prog rock category 😮😂
You just created a new category, country prog 🤩😂
Relatable lyrics.

I'm not sure what it is . Pop country I guess
Thanks Bill

@ElvisNash love your lyric and the hooky music intro. I think this is pop country ? The more I listen, the more I'm hooked! It's a radio hit!!

That's a great theme. I'm guessing most people are going to agree with that!
Lyric has a touch of Country, the music feels straight pop to me - not a criticism I think it works really well.
It's a great track, Elvis! 😀

Is this AI? It's sounds really polished and great!
"But she left town off too college its really much to late now"
I would correct this line:
But she left town off to college its really much too late now
Sounds good, @ElvisNash and I'm always impressed with your songs. I haven't heard one flop since I've been here.
Keep up the great work!

No it’s not robots
It’s live players
Thanks1 -
You should write on top that you paid for the demo.
Sounds good though0 -
I did write it , it's done . pitching songs is pretty much dead , why I retired
0 -
Using your word robots, you paying for a demo, is essentially the same thing as using ai.
Somebody other than yourself created it.
The lyrics kinda seem like robots though. Did you write the lyrics?0 -
No its not the same thing as using AI , Ai is a penny a track and robots
This is live players before AI came around , it was to pitch to publishers in Nashville
The lyrics were all written by me and Brent Baxter
0 -
But it's not you. We don't want people thinking you did this demo, .
Your posting it as if you did everything. Please tell us you sent this in and hoped they did a good job0 -
Yes it was done by a demo studio , pretty common thing before AI came around . I don't remember if I wrote the melody . it was for pitching purposes not as an artist . Ai has taken over , why I retired
0 -
Ok, so you barely did shit on this lol.
Write half the lyric, though that seems like ChatpGt. And your dragging somebody else in with you, sure blame him for the lyrics lol.
Just dishing back out Elvis. You have a tendency to say 'sounds good" when you review
Since the lyricist didn't do that sound, thats meaningless to them.
I thought you retired?
Please next time tell us you paid 699 bucks for a demo.lol
You frankly doing the same thing.
But you'll allright Elvis, think I wrote a song called ..we got the wrong Elvis, about you.
Do I need to work on this.. you don schlitz you...lol
Have a good day my Friend0 -
Co-writing is quiet common in Nashville , So is demoing songs for pitching to publishers
No I'm not doing the same thing as a AI song , its humans and yes about $550.00
Yes I'm retired for the 3rd time , that was an old song . To my knowledge Nashville publishers do not take AI songs , its old news , They want humans due to lawsuits of Ai thievery
0 -
Your doing the SAME exact thing.
You wrote half a lyric, mailed it in, and few days later have a generic creatively void demo for your money.
Anybody can by a demo and it will sound pretty good no matter how good or bad the song it is.
Anybody can enter their lyrics into suno, no matter how bad it good it is.
It's the same exact thing chief0 -
No its not the same thing , you are paying for live players , verses robots
As Suno progresses its about the same results as live recordings
I'll say one more time , Nashville publishers do not take AI songs , over law suits . Will that change ? I kinda doubt it , Nashville lives off demo studios like it has for decades
0 -
The only reason you paid for demos was cause ai wasn't around.
Publishers won't take ai song? So what? They didn't take any of yours either, and the demo makers chuckling that you thought it would do something
Nobody needs another song In the history of mankind.
Stop talking about Nashville, that's not you0 -
I got a few contracts over the years on songs sent in
Like I said for the 4th time , I'm retired , its to competitive and I think only staff writers are getting the cuts . I dealt with alot of people in Nashville over the years , its over I'm retired , As far as I know writers are still using studios to pitch to publishers , Not AI
0 -
I have too. I was offered a contract on a single song. They liked my voice and my "mature" pov as a young kid
Reality was they typed the contract on a typewriter that was missing letters. My dad took me to a lawyer the guy said classic start up company. Didn't sign. Might as well should have, the song has done nothing anyway.
Indie cuts, all sbyout knowing somebody. They never make a dime and some terrible songs have been on indie cuts.
Only way to do it is the old fashion way, go out and earn your fans one by one, make 100 bucks for a gig. Hope word spreads.0 -
Thats as an artist on doing gigs , I'm also retired on that at 71 . 30 years and cutting songs for publishers is enough
Before the internet was invented , it was easier getting cuts , its all changed now . I guess when I'm 80 years old I can say I tried , but its not much comfort to me now
0 -
what do you mean cutting dings for publishers? Your paying for the songs lol, not them.0
-
Man your kinda slow , Yes paying for live players to cut songs to be pitched to publishers
As I've said a few times now , Nashville publishers do not except Ai songs , over law suits pending. Writers usually split demo costs and sign contracts , 50 50 split , pretty standard business
0 -
Your slow, it took you 30 years to realize paying 500 a pop for demos results in nothing0
-
Some writers have had better luck then me , There are young writers now doing the same thing as I gambled on many years ago
Why they call it NashVegas , Following a dream , Yes it was all in vain , Why I retired and woke up . I think the only way to get cuts is to move to Nashville and get a staff writing deal , People are still flocking to Nashville and trying to be a staff writers , that won't change . I'm not sure how AI will change the landscape in Nashville. Im sure young writers in Nashville now can make their own demos and not rely on studios , They grew up in the digital age . Demo studios are probably still going strong , Thats how Nashville exists
0 -
You act like I'm the first person to do demos and pitch them to publishers
This has been going on for decades and will continue for a chance for a radio cut
But its not a fair playing field really , your going against established staff writers and I think chances are very slim on a cut
0 -
No, I know somebody who moved to nashville at the advice of some morons
I know very well how many people have tried, the only way you could get that money back is to land a major cut
Won't happen, especially now when everybody is a songwriter.
It's spending money to get so lucky, when luck usually strikes those who don't even try
Better to be lucky than good.
And having a service record your song, is the same as having ai do it, only with ai you can try as many different takes as you like and you are part of the process0 -
No its not the same as AI Dom , its humans and the song is excepted by Nashville publishers , As of now publishers in Nashville do not except AI songs , Will that change ? I kinda doubt it . If you deal with a great demo service company , They have many years experience on what might fly with a publisher . But with the onset of AI now , you probably won't hear the difference , But like I said publishers do not except AI songs , do to law suits
0 -
Try to follow me Elvis
Here's why it's the same, cause either way you are NOT getting a major cut, whether Nashville accepts it or not.
Putting it online with the millions of other songs is still your only chance, with luck playing huge role there.
The point is to STOP buying demos the songs are not good enough and there's no market for them.
Diy or don't do it0 -
Some writers as we speak are buying demos . You think cuz robots have come out writers in Nashville demo studios have closed down ? Not a chance there still going strong with a slight chance of a radio cut , that won't change . if Nashville publishers took AI songs , Nashville would be a ghost town , thats how the city is funded . but you are right on one aspect. Chances are very low on a unknown writer getting a outside cut with a major artist , I'd say now about zero
0 -
No I suspect studios will still be around, but with tens of millions of suno users, they now have tougher playing field than ever
You would have to have one helluva song, one helluva recording of if it... And that's just the beginning finding an artist who wants it...another story.
Your talking as if publishing is the end of it, no, nothing happens till it's a hit. That's the only way you'd make money.0
Howdy, Stranger!
