Bring Ole School Back

Lyrics: TammyB

Composed with my BFF(Suno). Y'all give some love to my girl, AI. She's making it happen for me. :-)

YouTube: Bring Ole School Back

[Verse 1]

Life was complicated

But so simple.

Growing up in the hood

Did not offer much hope.

Walking the streets at night

Kickin’ it with friends with no

Particular place to go.

[Verse 2]

Hip-Hop, Busta rhymes

no lyrics of violence

or guns.

Yo Mama jokes

Filled with clap backs and fun.

Hand games of Miss Mary Mack

All dressed in black.

When Rockin Robin was rocking in the treetop

All day long.

Holla if you want the ole school back.

[Chorus]

Music was food to the soul

Producing hit records that went platinum and gold

Not viral.

Tired of the Fakebook and Twitter bots.

Bring the ole school back.

No Social media addictions

Beggars vying for solicited attention.

No iPhones.

Only face to face chats.

Holla if you want the ole school back.

[solo]

[Verse 3]

A life without keyboard warriors

Or internet trolls

Who sold their souls for likes and clicks.

Desperate chicks

Half naked.

No dating or relationships

Only drama and who's creepin with each other.

What happened to when a man loved a woman.

[outro]

Tired of the Fakebook and Twitter bots.

Bring the ole school back.

Only face to face chats.

Holla if you want the ole school back.

@TammyB - Great lyrics. certainly, wanting old school back depends on your point of reference. I'm happy to leave it where it is. :).. The vocalist in the song sounds familiar, but I can't place where I heard it. was going to say billi holiday, but her voice is more gravelly.

  • Nice simple production Tammy , Good job

Where do I enrol! What a brilliant song, have to say, I enjoyed that very much indeed. You captured all that we have given up for the shallowness of what we got in return. I'm 100% behind those sentiments. An extremely well written piece that flowed easily and kept you hooked right through. Excellent choice of music/vocals to accompany the work. One to be proud of, can't wait for more.

@bhengen - Thank you and I appreciate your comment. The vocals remind me of Erykah Badu.

I was referring to the ole school before social media (when kids played outside/ rode bikes, jumped ropes, red light/green light games, etc). You could hold a conversation with someone without them always on their phone, and women left things to the imagination. And today's music is not the same. That's the ole school I'm referencing.

@ElvisNash - Thank you and I appreciate you listening.

@sidshovel - Thank you and I had fun writing this song. It made me reminisce about how grateful I am growing up in the 70's. Fun times. I appreciate your feedback and listening.

  • I know what you meant. I grew up in the late 60' - 70's. summers at the beach. and all that. Those were good times.

  • Very nice! I can image a couple of extra repeats on "Holla if you want the ole school back." ahead of the solo and maybe later on as well.

Lovely lyric. Ole school ain't coming back, but this should appeal to a large number of people!

  • @TammyB Right up my alley! Title caught my immediate attention and love that you made this lyric real with all sorts of personal things that you and your friends did together. I don't even do 'FakeBook' nor Twitter or X or whatever they're calling it tomorrow anymore. Nice groove. Nice beat. Got me off my seat dancing!

Keep 'em coming and YES please, Ole School Back!!

    @bhengen - The ole school times. :-)

@RainyDayMan - Thank you for the comment and for listening. It's sad to say that it's not coming back but the song does make me feel good about those times.

@HummerWisdom - Thank you and I appreciate you listening. I don't do social media either (FakeBook, Twitter(X), Instagram, etc).

  • @TammyB You're welcome. Much better company on song platforms such as TSF and SoundCloud!

    Cheers!
