lyrics SS : music/vocals Ai

[verse 1]

Can't blame ya for leavin', so soon,

I look at me in the mirror, an' see.

What I grew up, not wantin' to be,

another night, howlin' at the moon.

[verse 2]

Gimme a break, I've broke my own,

don't I deserve, another chance.

I'm here, drinkin'beer, in my underpants,

wearin' one of ya old, dressin' gowns.

[chorus]

I take it all back, never meant a word,

the things I said, i'm really sorry.

Those names I called ya, to your face,

was someone else, it wasn't me.

[verse 3]

Need you back, get me back on track,

learn how to use, the washin' machine.

Wearin' this shirt, how long's it been,

it's a good job, the colour's black.

[verse 4]

Good news honey, I got some money,

my uncle Frank, he died last week.

Fell on his head, the coroner said,

doin' yoga, now isn't that funny.

[chorus]

I take it all back, never meant a word,

the things I said, i'm really sorry.

Those names I called ya, to your face,

was someone else, it wasn't me.

[bridge]

I'll have to cut, this message short,

these buttons, too small for my fingers.

Have to go, before I get caught,

pickin', next door's Hydrangeas.

[final chorus]

I take it all back, never meant a word,

the things I said, i'm really sorry.

Those names I called ya, to your face,

was someone else, it wasn't me.

[outro]

Pressed my suit, can't see the burn,

Uncle Frank, had some brylcreem.

Slick ma hair, gotta look right for her.

things are brighter, than they seem.

  • Commercially speaking ending a song on a verse is called a tag , But that usually a repeat of V1

But you guys never follow commercial rules in which hits are made up on structures

    Funny song Sid

  • Strikes me as being funny / sad / pitiable.

This character's life seems like a mess!

Strong visuals throughout, I can picture this person. I may have met them!

I like the blues treatment you've chosen for it too.

  • @sidshovel - funny lyrics - give these high marks for fitting brylcreem in the song. :).. I like how you switch up from country and went blues. perfect choice

@RainyDayMan, @ElvisNash, Thank you gentlemen, your feedback is as invaluable as ever.

I don't recall us ever having met Owen!

The downtrodden an' disenfranchised may not sell records but that's were the stories are.

Those of us who have no commercial interests at all, do have the lattitude to push boundaries that others cannot afford to.

@bhengen Thanks Bill. As a teen, I had hair that would put Art Garfunkel to shame, whenever I had the chance, I would pinch some of my uncles Brylcreem, looked more like Fred Astaire than Elvis.
