Home studios are good for a blueprint

But you really need a producer for feed back on what's right and whats wrong

  • No question. A professional is going to lift a song.

When you're trying to pitch songs for a living, that's the way to go.

It's surprising how far you can go on home equipment nowadays if it's just to share with friends.

  • In your sector maybe, but the EDM market is saturated with those with home studios. for $200~ you can get a panasonic deck and free DAW, and your good to go.

I like dealing with professionals ,You get a better product . Yeah I've heard the home studio EDM stuff , alot of noise

  • not all noise. there are some really good. some really bad. but then when you have a dj scantily clad in a bikini.. does it matter ;)

  • ha ha ha

  • I can see how a home studio could work really well for EDM. No issues with correct positioning of mics, etc. and the acoustic environment doesn't really matter when it's all electronic anyway. Maybe the vocals would benefit from a professional studio in some cases, but even they tend to be so highly processed, that maybe it doesn't matter. This is speculation on my part, as I've never attempted anything that could be described as EDM.

I think the main thing is working with a producer, in a pro studio , Even home studios are using pro tools and all the goodies
