Murderer and Thief - collaboration from FAWM
I started the lyrics for a challenge with the theme of AI. I got a bit stuck, but managed to finish and rewrite the chorus for FAWM.
I was very lucky to have 2 wonderful people turn my lyrics into a song.
This version is a collaboration with Jon-Yngve Bakke. We have plans to keep working on a full production when time permits.
We are happy to hear what you like and suggestions for what can be improved. Thanks

Murderer and Thief
Lyrics: Andrea Brennan
Music, Vocals and Production: Jon-Yngve Bakke
V1
I believe I have witnessed
The death of artistry
In the heart of New York City
At Pleiades gallery
V2
Each work hanging on display
Has a familiar glint
Labeled original but isn’t
Copies from another’s footprint
Chorus
Your signature reads AI Muse
A clever ruse I see right through
It is my belief
You’re a murderer and thief
V3
A talent of prediction
Using words dictated
And techniques recreated
Then computer generated
Chorus
Your signature reads AI Muse
A clever ruse I see right through
It is my belief
You’re a murderer and thief
Bridge
Tell me, where is the heart
Without a practiced hand
Is art buried in the sands, of time
Without the woman or the man
Chorus
Your signature reads AI Muse
A clever ruse I see right through
It is my belief
You’re a murderer and thief

Excellent, Andrea! First, I love the invocative title! Your clever lyrics never fail to draw lots of vivid imagery in the mind. Your collaboration with Jon-Yngve Bakke worked out well. He has good vocals and produced a solid track with a clear sound. To my ears, the song is mildly reminiscient of Sting's work on his post-Police album "Dream of the Blue Turtles" around 1985. Good stuff! I loved listening, and I look forward to your next project and track! 😀

I just noticed what I mistyped in my sleepy state on my phone. I meant, "I love the evocative title!" 🤣

That's a good one! It's seems like a difficult topic to condense into lyrics, but it all reads very smoothly.
I liked how you did the rhyming on:
... AI Muse
A clever ruse I see right through
I love how the melody goes up on line 2 of each verse. And the chorus is great. The pause for the final line gives it some lovely anticipation.
The jazzy sound feels just right to me. The finger snaps work well. There might be room in the accompaniment for some piano tinkling.
A great collaboration. I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Thanks, Joseph, for this nice feedback! I was so pleased with the musical treatment for these lyrics. I'm glad you like it too. Others have also said it reminds them of Sting. That is a wonderful compliment.

Owen, thanks for the very kind feedback! I love that you like the rhyming on
... AI Muse
A clever ruse I see right through
I was so happy when I thought of that. It feels great to hear someone else likes it too :)
Jon blew me away with the musical treatment. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It will be a while before we work on the full production, but I will pass on the idea of adding some keys to the track. Thanks for the suggestion!

I believe I've said something similar elsewhere in the either, but this song nails it both lyrically and musically. The jaunty music almost making light of the concept but simultaneously reenforcing it. Top stuff.
A great combo.

Great collaboration. The lyric is clever - as a sucker for idiosyncratically placed internal rhymes I was struck by the same muse/ruse rhyme as Owen - and the music is catchy, especially the chorus. It sounds fine as it is, but I look forward to hearing the promised full production😀

I didn't want to bump my post to the top, but feel I need to thank everyone for the thoughtful feedback. It is greatly appreciated!
@ElvisNash: The question is - is AI art actually art? Lol
@MoraAmaroLaLoba: Thank you so much. I am very happy you like the story and the song as a whole :)
@CorkingCrackBand: I believe you heard this in the Muse. Thanks for a second listen and the thoughtful and kind comments!
@OnlyGavin: Thanks for your very kind comments. It makes me happy to know you like the muse/ruse internal rhyme. It a favorite of mine too. Jon delivered a super catchy chorus. Glad you enjoyed it. It's going to be a while before the full production, but I will post when it's complete.
@jrandolph: I'm so happy you enjoyed the song. I will be sure to share your lovely comments with my collaborator, Jon :)

Hi Andrea! I'm just checking to see if you and Jon are still developing this one more and how it's coming along. Honestly, it already sounded very finished already to my ears. I'm looking forward to hearing whatever you decide to do next with this, as well as your next song! 😀
