What you hear from publishers

Thanks for sharing this one Bennett! Really digging this one. The melody and overall vibe of the song feel super mainstream and current. Sonically, it feels very commercial with a nice blend of country and rock influences. The demo is top notch and sounds close to being an actual record! I love the subtle play on words at the end of the chorus (“I know we can’t rewind but every time my mind plays you back to me”… that’s such a great lyric leading into the hook.

The only thing really throwing me off about this song is some of the phrasing choices. Particularly in the chorus, it feels like a continual run on sentence, and that some of the sentences feel cut off in weird spots based on where the next line begins. The flow feels a bit clunky to me because of that. That bridge is killer though! I think this one is super close to feeling like a hit for someone!

So you quit , or rework it

Right , The problem with online publishers is , you can't drag them down to studios to rework re-phrasing

So you have to rework it on your own , and beg for more time to listen again . While your doing that , She's heard 10 songs by then , or more

  • It reminds me of my NSAI reviews. I paid for a couple of those early on. It always felt to me reading them that they were always going to say something nice to want you to buy another, and always had to find something to criticize in order to justify saying "No"

  • NSAI worked in the 70ties , I don't think now

  • I kind of feel the same about NSAI reviews. To be fair, I don't think they really knew how to approach my rather unusual songs and kept trying to analyze them using a conventional country template. I did get some useful, executable feedback on one occasion, but that was about it. I like NSAI for the friends I have made through my local chapter. I have got to know some great songwriters and musicians and really nice people. Otherwise, probably not worth the money for someone like me.

NSAI caters to the staff writers and actually getting cuts . They play the little game of 35 bucks pitch to a publisher for bringing in revenue . SongU does the same thing

  • 4. This song, in my opinion, is not competitive with other songs I

    am currently pitching.

  • This song is cheesy , we pass

  • Thats the most pathetic story I ever heard , I pass

I got whole bunch of these over 20 years

  • ok , Well take this one , sign this contract , WTF did you go lol , I got my contract

  • Your hook has been done , I pass , Better luck next time

  • Use a younger singer and redo the song , We don't like your voice

  • make sure you consult a lawyer before signing this contract

  • We don't care you lost $600.00 on a demo , its not our problem

  • @ElvisNash at least some of those were brutally honest.. rather than just being ignored or sent a simple no, thanks

  • ha ha ha , their honest alright
