I have known of the really cool 1970's song "Thunder Island" by Jay Ferguson for many years but recently I listened to some of his other solo stuff. Wow! This is guy is one of the best pop song writers I have ever heard. It's pop and it's the 70's and early 80's sound but there's something really pleasing about it. At times there are brief moments of incredible pleasure within his songs. He has 5 solo albums. I really like some of the songs on his 1980 and 1982 albums.

Apparently he was a member of some notable bands prior to his solo stuff, like the band Spirit. He definitely has a high level of talent, for his style. So if you're looking for something new Jay Ferguson may be worth looking into.

If you have never heard the song "Thunder Island" I urge you to have a listen. It's such a great feel good song. One of my favorites. Great high quality recording,. The famous guitarist, Joe Walsh, plays guitar on it, too.

Sounds like a 70ties song . Never heard it before or heard of him , Walsh gives him credibility

  • Thanks Rob! I don't know him, so always good to find a new songwriter / performer.

  • I just listened to it again. It's one of the most "feel good" songs ever. This song is powerful medicine! I mean really like medicine that can completely change your mood and lift your spirits high, particularly with good headphones. I use the Koss Sportapro, which are to me audiophile quality at an incredibly low price, like $25.00 or lower on sale.

Good headphones are $400.00 .The only problem you have to charge them everyday. They basically lied on 24 hours of play time. The problem with listening to songs 50 years old , their dated to trends in 2025 what's going on

No! The best headphones I have ever tried cost me $25.00. These are, as noted above, the Koss Sportapro, the direct relative of the acclaimed Koss Portapro. These sound better than stereos that cost several thousand dollars. They not only have exquisite detail, and wide frequency range, they present music in a way that makes it come alive. These are really that good. The Portapro as I indicated is acclaimed by pros, enthusiasts and the average music listener and has been this way for over 35 years! These cost now about $40-$50 depending on where and when you buy them. Only buy from authorized distributors. Amazon is good and generally has the lowest price and generous return policy.

Yeah I reckon , amazon specials , Studio headphones are about $400.00 . You need Atomos studio speakers to get that sound

  • The Sportapro headphones are about $25.00 and sound better than a stereo I heard that cost several thousand dollars. I have also tried $100+ headphones and the sound of the Sportapro is vastly superior.
