POUR CHOICES
(Words & Music by Gavin Sinclair)
Saturday night is the loneliest night
But every night's just the same
I get in my car, drive to the bar
And everybody knows my name
But I sit here alone, stare at my phone
I don't have much to say
One more beer, then I'm outta here
How'd it turn out this way?
They call this bar Pour Choices
And yes, I guess I've made a few
What's done is done, my song is sung
What am I to do?
Misty pours me a pint "How're you doing tonight?"
I smile and answer, "Good as I can be."
But truth be told, I just feel old
Killing time here while time kills me
In the mirror behind all those bottles of wine
There's a familiar face
I recognize those weary eyes
Surprised to see me in this place
They call this bar Pour Choices
And yes, I guess I've made a few
What's done is done, my song is sung
What am I to do?
Saturday night is the loneliest night
But every night's just the same
I sit for a while and manage a smile
When Misty says she's glad I came
Say goodnight to the face in the mirror till this place
Calls me back once more
To search for the past in an empty glass
And in everyone who walks through the door
They call this bar Pour Choices
And yes, I guess I've made a few
What's done is done, my song is sung
What am I to do?

Saw the title and knew it had to be from you Gavin!
Some lovely lines like: Killing time here while time kills me
And I like the melody too.

RDM beat me to the stand-out line!
A really nice song Gavin. I guess we've all sat in that bar, and looked into that mirror.
an' yeah, we all go back again.
Well written, those really good rhyme schemes did not go unnoticed either.

Thanks Owen. Yes, a lot of people seem to like that line.

Thanks Sid. Pour Choices is a real bar and I've played this song there.

Love this song, Gavin. Very good write. Back in my drinking days the local bars were my 2nd home. This is like the downside of the Cheers theme song.

Thanks Cove. Yes, there is a deliberate echo of Cheers in the lines "And everybody knows my name" and "When Misty says she's glad I came." I joke that I'm the Norm Peterson of Pour Choices, which is simultaneously nice and slightly worrying LOL.
