Freezing In The Keys

With the way the north has invaded the south with its weather, this song has been on my mind a lot this week. I thought I'd share this one. Danny Bloodworth on vocals, the lyrics were rewritten a little to fit the music Mike Frisby had and said we could use for the song if we wanted it. Danny and I were talking on the phone he was saying how cold it was in Northern Georgia, I was in the Keys working and I told him it was even freezing in the Keys. That started it, I called him back the next day and we finished the lyrics over the phone.

Freezing In the Keys
Frisby/Bloodworth/Williams 2009
On a half broke television,
At our favorite tiki bar,
Weatherman says
its snowing where you are.
Down here the palms are swaying,
A soulful guitar man is playing,
Our song, and its tearing me apart.
He’s singing songs of love and laughter,
Of happily ever after all those things
that now seem out of reach.
Since you left me here in paradise,
My worlds turned as cold as ice,
And without you here it’s freezing in the keys.
That red ball just hit the ocean,
I’m sittin’, drinkin’, drowning my emotions,
Wonderin’ where did our love go.
That warm breeze won’t cure the achin’,
My broke heart just keeps on breakin’,
A flame that hot should never a turned so cold.
Flowered shirts, and sunburnt noses,
Happy hour here never closes,
Outside it must be ninety degrees,
Since you left me here in paradise,
My worlds turned as cold as ice,
And without you here it’s freezing in the keys.
I see lovers holding hands,
building castles in the sand
But I might as well
have snow up to my knees.
Since you left me here in paradise,
My worlds turned as cold as ice,
And without you here it’s freezing in the keys.

Well if that doesn't warm you up, I don't know what will.
That was so Jimmy Buffett, could listen to it on loop.
Great song guys, somethin' special there.

@Barry your title immediately gained my attention. Beautifully written lyric. Now, for that listen.....music takes me right there, tho' I've never been. I know, poor ol' deprived me. But thanks for taking me there, Barry. Love your tune. And yes, upon reading your intro to the song, I do believe we're in a Grand Solar Minimum (GSM); the complete opposite of what the powers-that-be tell us. It could get tricky for food production. And THAT is the REASON your title caught my eye; timely song. So happy I grew up in a warming phase; much better than cold.
Wishing you the best,
Renee

That Danny can really sing (so jealous). This was a fun true collaboration that never would have happened if not for this forum, thanks again @RainyDayMan for saving it from the abyss. Thank you all for listening, and the comments.
