Another Day in the Life of a Drama Queen

I guess the title pretty much describes the song some think it's about my ex, but I ain't saying.
Another Day in the Life of a Drama Queen
songwriter, bass guitar and vocals- Toney Wright
drums-Vince Ditrich
piano-John Jarvis
acoustic guitar Jason Roller
steel guitar-Steve Hinson
Whenever we're seen out together
you laugh and act like it's all la di da
but when we're alone it's stormy weather
and I'm so tired of being your umbrella
I bend over backwards to please you
but somewhere a man's gotta draw the line
you just want me around to appease you
I have better things to do with my time
You drink wine and chain smoke cigarettes
while you talk on your phone with your mother
sometimes I think y'all got a bet
on who can out drama the other
I lend you my shoulder to cry on
as another dilemma unfolds
it's another verse to the same song
I gotta say it's all getting kind of old
As I watch you sleep, I can't help but grin
it's all so peaceful and serene
but when you awake it starts again
another day in the life of a drama queen
I bend over backwards to please you
but somewhere a man's gotta draw the line
you just want me around to appease you
I have better things to do with my time

I like the song a lot Toney, really good lyrics and rhyming structure. Music was spot on too.my only minor comment is thar the vocals seem too far back, I struggled to hear the words clearly
Nevertheless, a very good piece.

This is a cool song with your classy vocal style which I now recognise. If anything I would have the vocals a bit higher in the mix (as already suggested by @sidshovel ). I'm struggling to hear them at times. Also I can't hear the kit...drums are listed but not sure if they are present here.
I really enjoyed this. A great track.

Second making the vocals louder.
But the music and lyric is all good. Enjoyed it.

Thanks for y'alls input. I remixed, which took a while. I think it's fixed now. I'm wondering, Are y'all listening through your phones? I'm listening through my P A system. 200 watts pushing 8 speakers, and when I play back, I naturally sing with it. I think that's my problem. I need to invest in a good set of headphones. I replaced the file, so the link posted is the new mix.

Hahahaha I think we have all met this girl at some point. I have known a few, but not for long.
Very well written, love the rhyming scheme in the lyrics, enjoyed it.

Yes, I'm using phones. Don't know if that introduces any bias, but that's what I'm doing.

@ChrisPrice Thanks Chris, The drummer is playing with brushes. I doubled his track and turned him up. You should be able to hear him now.

@Cove absolutely, some people you just can't please; impossible people (if memory serves, I tried to write that hook some time ago, it probably sucked) but anyway, you've said it perfectly in your lyric...now for a listen. . . . love the melody and the way you pause between 2nd and 3rd lines in the verses. Thank God for the lyrics posted as your voice is a bit drowned out! But it sort 'a works considering the subject matter and the mood of the singer; just done with it..

@HummerWisdom Thanks Renne. I think I have the vocals where they need to be now. I done like 5 adjustments since I posted. I'm not all that tech savvy. I just do the ol' trial & error thing lol.

@Cove cool! lemme go listen!
ha, ha! Vocal is louder but I still can't understand a dang word you sayin'! Thank goodness for lyrics posted! Love it, Toney. Love your feel, truly and your melodies and what you have to say! Gets me dancin'! 😍
PS: just came across "Love Without Measure" Whoa!! I think this is my fave that I've heard of yours thus far.

Thanks for your kind words, Renee. I think I'm going to let Drama Queen rest for a while and revisit later. Glad you like Love Without Measure. I don't usually write about me personally but, that 2nd verse about my mom and dad is.Mom and dad both died with dementia 2 1/2 years apart. 2010 2013 I was the primary caregiver for both. and am now living the old home place. lot's of memories of their love still linger.
