No! Not true! The word "ecstasy" was used in the way Ralph Waldo Emerson and other great observers of humanity have said - that "life is ecstasy"! It's true. I am in no way promoting anything other than that! I meant that once "I found it" it was ecstasy. Do you see what I mean?

  • I accept your assertion that it was not intended to promote drug use.

That does not make it acceptable here on TSF, as it is readily interpretable as being so.

The decision to allow or remove it rests with me as moderator, and not with yourself.

I have removed it again on your repost. Please don't post it again.

  • Readily interpretable? How about the name, Rainy Day Man? Did you know that it is the tile to a famous James Taylor song about a drug dealer? I personally thought the name gives the impression of someone who is "down" in temperament. So even your name is subject to interpretations. I don't think you should change it.

I'm disappointed you would censor my song as I believed this website was open minded yet careful not to allow speech that is obviously harmful in any way. You own the website and have to right to remove anything you want. I have the right not to interact with this website.

  • @robwills this is none of my business but, Rob, please don't go...just let it go.

I would miss you very much,

    Renee

  • Rob, I don't want you to leave, and I'm not asking you to, but I can certainly understand you feeling that way. Censorship is fine until it applies to you personally, and then it's an issue and causes conflict. I won't apologise for it. I don't do this stuff for kicks. I do what I think is in the best interest of the forum. I will point out that it is rare, and as far as I remember this is the first occasion we've had an issue. Other sites have other rules, which may suit you better. You should certainly go where you feel comfortable. Whether you choose to stay or go, I wish you only the best with your songwriting.

  • Thanks. I was just making the point that there's always two sides to everything - just like Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his essay "Compensation". That is an excellent and very short essay. You (anyone who reads this) might want to look it up and read it. It is truly wisdom that applies to everything and you can use it in your daily affairs.

I agree that even misinterpreted lyrics in songs can encourage dangerous behavior. In fact, and I can't believe "I" am saying this, rock music itself can lead to dangerous behavior. It can "wild you up" and/or create strong emotions which cause dangerous actions, such as driving too fast. Really, it's true.

But what about songs posted to this website that tell about and/or promote the drinking of alcohol? Alcohol is in fact a drug, a dangerous drug and destroys people in numerous ways. That is wisdom!

I will stay and watch what I post. I was doing that already, like probably no one else does. In fact many of my songs have a definite latent (hidden) message in them. Want to take a guess what that is?

Thanks also to Renee. I appreciate your sentiments.

  • Thanks Rob, I appreciate your thoughtful response.

@Cove yours and mine, too! LOL! Just got to SoundCloud for some of my 'not-so-acceptable' tunes. I'm surprised SoundCloud lets me stay sometimes! And I'm just getting re-started! 🤣

  • @robwills so happy you decided to stay!

  • This is a great forum otherwise. I'm surprised there are not thousands of people using it daily. There are so many musicians , songwriters and lyricists in the world and to be able to have people around the world review your work within literally seconds of posting it is miraculous.

robwills USA Hey Rob, I agree, This is a cool site full of really cool people. There is a bright side to your song being removed. You can now tell folks that you have a song that's been banned across the pond.

  • @robwills wear it as a badge of honor.
  • Thanks for the good laugh.

interesting topic , Pot and alcohol are legal . Folks want to party on the weekend and forgot about the problems , They want songs to relate to and not think about the world . They get enough reality 5 days a week . In the music world the worse that can happen to you is be plagued by adult disease .

  • And/or not wake up the next morning. Just ask Brain Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Keith Moon, John Bonham, John Entwhistle, Prince, Tom Petty and the countless others famous and not so famous in the music world. Oh, wait, you can't.

Always a price tag on the end . I wasn't really talking about artists and addictions , it was what people want hear on the weekend , it usually a up beat song to forgot their problems , not a CNN report
