Don't want to start up the big discussion again but..should there be a separate category, a separate space for what's taking over this forum?? I.E. AI? Or maybe a separate space for non AI?

  • @StoneFlowers - my lyrics are my own, not generated by AI. This a forum about lyrics.. how it's musically produced is independent. that's my thoughts

Guys you're certainly entitled to your opinions, but I don't share them.

Yes, someone who writes lyrics is a lyricist. And someone who writes music is a musician. And those are both parts of songwriting.

AI is certainly changing the music landscape, and that is uncomfortable even for me. I don't think any of us know where it will land. But it most certainly isn't going away. For lyricists who previously couldn't get their songs set to music I think it's a god send.

TSF is intended to be an inclusive environment where people with different talents help each other to write better songs. I see no advantage in isolating people into different sections, and frankly it strikes me as elitist.

Musicians are welcome, lyricists are welcome, lyricists who use AI are welcome. Fully AI written songs, words+music are not.

I'm not planning to change the way the forum is run any time soon.

Raising this issue so soon after the above statement was issued is not constructive.

Be respectful of the decision made and each other.

  • We have a policy on this. I don't think anything material has changed recently.

AI song generation is becoming more common, and therefore is appearing more often in posts.

However, you don't need to even listen to these if you'd rather not. They should all have an indication as to whether the music is AI generated or not. If it is, you can read and comment on the lyric in isolation, or choose not to comment on those posts at all, provided you follow the rule of posting 2 comments on other people's songs for each one you post yourself.

Whoops sorry guys, my mistake. I realize now I should've been posting my songs under the "singer songwriter" category. I'll stay over there from now on. Please forgive me.
