Ukelele

Went to the Open Mic night at my local town and won the raffle prize, which was a ukulele.

The Ukulele itself is fairly basic, but the artwork is lovely. It's been done in brass then fixed to the soundboard and headstock. Gives it a steampunk vibe!

So now I have to learn Ukulele and write songs for it before the next Open Mic at the end of January.

  • Congratulations, RDM! Love the name it, "Tenor Town" how cool is that?! And everything happens for a reason! Looking forward to hearing your new songs with ukulele! 🤩

  • Well done RDM! I recently bought myself a banjolele..as the name suggest, it's a cross beween the two. No idea what I'm doing really but I got a couple of songs out of it.😀

  • @ChrisPrice Do you strum a banjolele, use a thumbpick, or finger pick it?

  • @RainyDayMan I strum mainly..plus a bit of finger picking - though I'm not too good at that. I have it in what's called Chicago tuning..essentially the first four strings of a six string guitar - E B G D, but with the D tuned an octave higher. I tried some other tunings too, but this one seems to work best for me. I'm still very much a learner.

I have a mandolin too - I'm even more of a learner with that, but I like the idea of getting away from the rock guitars now and then.
