Witness
I often get the urge to block out all evidence of what's happening in the world and just cocoon myself in my own private reality. It works for a while, but deep down I know it's important to keep tabs on the horrors. I wrote this song this past spring, and I'm really feeling it today.

WITNESS
If there's a battle raging in a far-off land
If there's a fascist on the rise
If there's a refugee floating lifeless in the sea
Don't close your eyes
Should smoke and fire devour the hillside
Should one destroy another's land
I just want to say don't turn away
Just 'cause your mind can't understand
I know, if you just let it go
You'll be happy for awhile
But don't hide, stay wide eyed
We may need you for the trial
You may be called to be a witness
you may be asked what you have seen
They may need proof from you
when they lead the guilty to the guillotine

Brilliant, my kind of song. A poignant topical message if ever there was one!
Well done.

Great story and delivery, very John Lennonish.

Strong opening with that guitar chord, puts some weight into the music strengthening your message.
Whole thing is really nicely put together.

I'm old enough to remember Procol Harum at their best and this reminds me of them in a way. That's a huge compliment btw because imo they created some wonderful music which I loved back in the day. They might have put a guitar solo somewhere in there too. but then it was late 60's/early 70's!!
This is a great song...definitely not run of the mill. A really good listen.
