I'm hoping a local country band will think one of my songs is good enough to cut. Here's my latest effort. I'm amazed I got this in just one take, after the other 199.

The last I checked, Arizona's not on the ocean

It's 105 and hasn't rained in weeks

Even cactus pray for a drop of water

and the fish swim in dust down at the creek

But it's flooding in this bar here in Tucson

Waves of beer so high I might drown

The whiskey current's trying to pull me under

since you took off with him and left town (still not entirely sold on this line)

We were running low just before you left me

You were drinking from the well of another guy

Then I called and got a disconnected number

and heard the news you'd left me high and dry

Thanks for having me on this forum, RainyDayMan! I used to be here a lot in the months just before COVID. Then my local open mics stopped and my mind wandered to things besides music. But I'm back!

This song is a true story a friend of mine experienced with his grandad. It's about how self-doubt and fear of failure are passed down generation to generation. NO AI was used in the creation of this song!

It's hard to remain patriotic when you know your country is out to get you. I'd like to still say that there's no better place on earth to live, but I can no longer agree with that sentiment.

Hello again. Thank you for all of your feedback on the last song I uploaded. Really helps a lot and is appreciated very much. This one, I imagine is controversial but thought I'd have a go at it in spite of it. And it truly is GREAT to be part of the GREAT AWAKENING all be it a small part. Went with a minor chord this time due to the gravity of the subject. I'm not much on the music part but prayerfully gets the point across. Be interesting to see what a REAL musician could do with it!

Hello, I'm new here. Enjoying the lyrics and songs posted here very much. Taking a deep breath to post one of my latest messes as the world is a mess. I'm a better lyricist (at least I think) than a musician. My skills are limited in that department and I'm surely no singer but I posted this one on SoundCloud yesterday in spite of it all. I record directly into my iphone, zero edits so if you're not into raw music you can skip the recording. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

A cover of both songs (traditional folk songs themselves) by the same name by two separate folk rock outfits. The first 2/3's is a cover of Morris On's (functionally The Albion Band) song Cuckoo's Nest and the last 1/3 is Cuckoo's Nest by Steeleye Span - which was the last 1/3 of a song they did called Drinking Down the Moon! Confused?!😀 My vocal is pretty strained at the start but is better (when hidden) when the instruments come in. I added some lyrics in to Steeleye Spans song, namely:
