A poet should never see life as it is

but always as it should be

he always should trust in a manner on his

own unique sensibility

The rain for instance is never the rain

when it pours in abundance from above

but wrapped in his beautiful mindfully words

as tears of a heavenly love

Nor should he recall to the winters snow

as cold and as ice and as hard

But more than a snow-white blanket, slow

to cover the land as a guard 

And if a stone be it tossed into a lake

while he watches the ripples run free

he should describe this disturbance awake

As the waves of his poem-to-be

when it happens that he is alone in the night

And his thoughts may run wild in the still

Let the candles of his thoughts be his guiding light

as a torch for the darkness to fill

and at last if he sits in front of his book,

to be filled with the rhymes he has gained

He is not afraid of the empty page, look

It's his canvas on which he can paint
