I lost my heart building love relationships

Shot blanks in anger at seventy ton battleships

Note for note there's truth in my story songs

The Holy Ghost weaves thru them righting wrongs

Every word is baptized in whiskey and ice

A six-string cavalier soul seeker

Demons haunt me every night round midnight

By sunrise I’ve found a profound deeper rhyme

With a bruised hallelujah faith but believer

That’s alright at one point we all run outta time

Jesus was an outlaw spreading kindness who suffer

  • @ElvisNash - great song.. perfect melody..alsmost gospel. love this line - A six-string cavalier soul seeker.

  • A lot going on lyrically , thanks Bill

  • @ElvisNash - What I like about your work, is that it's diverse, each song is different, a lot of your work can be cross-over hits because the ideology in each can resonate with a vast group of people.

Every time I write Nashville friendly lyrics and record it , it sounds like crap. cuz I can't sound like vanilla sounding Nashville guys , I wish I could

So I should stay in my lane of songs like this , on this brand

  • That’s gotta be frustrating. At least I know my writings are for a very limited audience. I wish I could write as freely as you do, but somewhere along the way, my mind became broken

Your down the poetry road , I was a know it it all awhile back and said everything should be conversational , Who am I God ?

All kinds of ways to approach ideas , Your doing fine man . Life's basically frustrating , what's new lol. What are there now 50 million genres ? Poetry probably fits in 25 million of them .

  • @ElvisNash - those numbers are probably way lower than you think. every time I pop up EDM on youtube a new subset pops up.. the thing is your lyrics tell story, mine aren't overly profound or intelligent, just mired in abstraction.

probably , Who knows . Poetry tells a story , just for more intelligent people . Dirt road songs aren't the beginning or end to anything lol. its kinda funny most current country hit writers are college educated , But they forget all that and pull out their Aint book on writing sessions . BA degree in English lol

  • I'm not sure if you're aiming at a Christian audience here specifically, or a more general one. If the former it might be good to try and get some specific feedback from some believers. I look at phrases like "baptized in whiskey and ice" and think it's a good write, but I've encountered situations before where people have reacted badly. I used "god damned" in a song once which had a gospel / redemption feel to it, and though the reaction I got wasn't nasty, it was vehement. Apparently that is a definite no-no within that community and I was ignorant of it.

I don't aim at anything as the artist . God damn it , is kinda of no no . But used it in Walker River song , Its my brand as a bad ass outlaw image in this song , it fits my voice and writing . If your writing and demoing songs , then yes you have to be concerned what an artist will say in a song . I'm not concerned with it when I'm being the artist . Critics got nothing better things to do but find a problem with a song like your nasty Chistian folks

  • Elvis, it sure seems like you are trying to record and perform on a professional, commercial basis. If you aren't targeting a market, you should be! Different if you are doing it as a creative hobby, then you can do anything you want.

It's just an outlaw country song , that's the genre and market , I'm not worried about it , God's Caddilac will be promoted with a semi major company . I don't think this stands up to standards on 2025 music . If ya got an extra $500,000 , I'm sure we could make this song popular , Music is $$$$$$.
