The one you need
[verse]
you know that you can come to me.
I’ll lend a sympathetic ear.
I’ll reassure and comfort you.
the way I have for so many years.
[pre chorus]
I coax a laugh with a stupid joke.
I hold your hand and you smile.
You should know by now that I love you
but your heart’s in denial.
[chorus]
You have a thing for bad boys
not nice guys like me.
But when you’re broken hearted
I’m the one you need.
[verse]
you know that you can talk to me.
You’ve told me things only I know.
I’m trustworthy, I am your rock.
The place you go when you feel low.
[pre chorus]
You know you can cry on my shoulder.
You know I’ll say the right thing.
You can depend on me to be there.
Through whatever hell life brings.
[chorus]
You have a thing for bad boys;
not nice guys like me
but when you’re broken hearted
I’m the one you need.
[bridge]
You called but I wouldn’t answer.
You came over the check on me.
You found me crying, you held me
Realized that you cared for me.
In ways you thought you never could.
You found friendship wasn’t enough.
Saw you couldn’t live without me;
Discovered you’d fallen in love.
[outro]
After ten long years,It dawned on you
I’m the one you need.

You're an out an' out storyteller Carroll, the tale flows effortlessly.
smooth rhyming scheme too, hallmark of your talent.
Put it through Suno, bugger anyone who doesn't like Ai, I'd like to hear it.
P.S. Don't forget to comment on 2 others.
Thanks for posting,

@carroll I'm with Sid on this; very smooth reading and heartfelt, too. I can only imagine this lyric to be a true story. Would love to hear it put to music; you really only need 3 or 4 chords.
Do you play an instrument at all?
If so, try messing around with something like the following but in any order you choose which works best: G Em C D (but you can start on any one of those chords and mix them up!) Many hit pop songs are written with that 6th minor chord. For example, you could try Em C G D for your verses and then C G D Em, C G D... or end on G; C G D G for your chorus. I learned that progression over on YouTube backing tracks! Lovely progression. Now, you do have a Pre-chorus and a Bridge and that's where I get a bit stuck but you can figure it out with some patience.
I feel your pain as a lyricist because that's what I mainly am but with a little guitar strumming and simple chords you can make your words into music!
And, then again, you don't even need to play an instrument. Just record your words a cappella. The words and melody are the song! And if you don't have a digital recorder with which you can share, you can always record it on your cell phone, assuming you have one. But I'm probably preaching to the choir!
I hope this has been helpful, Carroll
