Kentucky On My Mind

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAT6QWudgYU&list=RDCAT6QWudgYU&start_radio=1

V1

Well, them San Diego sunsets

Sure do blow my mind

And them hippie fools up in Santa Cruz

They’re good friends of mine -

Venice beach, tattooed freaks

Hollywood and Vine

Yeah, I’m in California

But Kentucky’s on my mind

CHORUS:

Green River rollin’ slow

Nothin’ moves too fast

You and me and the willow trees

With the whispers of the past

Lookin’ up, countin’ stars

Sippin’ moonshine, lost in time

Yeah, I’m in California and Kentucky’s on my mind

I’m in California, but Kentucky’s on my mind

V2

Funny how that sunset

Just makes me think of you

Shades of gold that moved my soul

Pale eyes of ocean blue -

And I don’t know, why I had to go

Just a fool leaving love behind

Now I’m in California

And Kentucky’s on my mind

CHORUS:

Endless waves of green, green grass

Old river rollin’ by

Blankets out, we’d make it last

Find love in the midnight sky

Thinkin’ back, it makes me smile

Cause it takes me back in time

But I’m in California, and Kentucky’s on my mind

Yeah I’m in California, and Kentucky’s on my mind

BRIDGE

Who needs endless summer days

Give me autumn leaves

You and me… by the willow trees…

CHORUS 3:

Well, the Green River’s rollin’ slow, and the years flown too fast

You and me and our willow trees, we’re all whispers of the past

Lookin’ up I can count the stars, and they take me back in time

But I’m in California, and Kentucky’s on my mind

Yeah, I’m in California, and Kentucky is always on my mind

  • Nice tune man, please include your role in this song/production
  • Very nice!

  • I wrote the melody and wrote it
This is long before AI was invented
  • @ElvisNash - brilliant hook, gets stuck in your head. a great song to hum to :).. love the swaying guitars solo.

@ElvisNash if you wrote it what did Bernard Kane and Chris cameron do?

They are the performers?so the music singer and recording was all sent to demo studio?

Not quite Georgia on my mind, or Carolina in my mind, but good reference
  • Bernard is me long time ago , yes before AI was invented demo studios did them
And still are by pros in Nashville to pitch

How many names do you have?

So you played nothing on this, did not sing, recorded nothing and arranged and produced nothing.

See, I need to know these things, I may not want to listen knowing somebody else did everything on this track...

    I thought you retired?
  • Do you actually think Nashville closed its doors cuz stupid A1 took over ?
That’s the way it’s done cuz publishers don’t take AI songs
That’s a old song i am retired , the only people getting cuts are Sony staff writers
  • I do not know, all I know is you should reveal you paid for this demo
  • All Nashville writers pay for demos
    Before and now
  • All songwriters now use ai, same exact thing. If you recorded this yourself, it be way different
  • Pros do not use AI, publishers do not except them , it’s stolen material

    But you're not a pro
  • I do what the pros do by not using robots
  • But you sound more like a robot, talking about robots .

And frankly, I think this sounds like Suno.

    Now get to work....

    Lollllllllllll

@ElvisNash @Domd Forget about "Pros" or who is or isn't. I've been going back and listening to your stuff Elvis. There's something different and beautiful about your songs. I thought this one was my favorite..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp4-uwXv1_A But the more I listened...the more I liked this one...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET1g1LKrtBA. Don't let anybody challenge your genius my friend, they can't hold a flame your special way of writing and singing. You told me you sold your guitar, fuck please find your way back to writing and singing, please.

That's pretty funny, nobody can challenge his genius, lol

Well, Elvis has insulted many people with his attacks, educate yourself on his posts here, and ignore everyone, one who is good

    There's no genius here
  • All fairness AI is as good as demos
But you’ll get sued pitching them
Maybe I’ll sing one in a few months
Been under a lot of stress , money of course
  • WHO is pitching them?
  • IronKnee

  • The publisher might get sued if they pitched a AI song to a artist , For obvious reasons its stolen material

A AI cover song with your melody ? Actually I don't know . They probably would ask if it's been done using AI , If you said yes logic tells me they would reject it , due to lawsuits pending . They hate robot songs , if you don't believe me contact a major publisher

  • LOL

Major publishers won't listen to ANYTHING unless they know exactly who it is coming from.

The industry has circled the wagons a long time ago and will only listen to their beer drinking buddies.

The only "hit" songs they listen to are from their relatives.

LOL... I could write a "Yesterday" and they wouldn't give me the time of day

  • Major publishers ? Yes they will , I've talked to several over the years

But I think the climate has changed and only major staff writers are getting the cuts now . AI songs are only a pain in the ass to the major companies

  • Yeah...it's a hard world. I have no use for any of them. The only music I listen to anymore are the songs my son pushes on me for comment or some song in a movie soundtrack. I haven't been impressed in years.

I really prefer all us mediocre talent.

Really like this lyric — the California/Kentucky contrast gives it such a cool vibe. Some of the lines actually made me grin, in a good way! The “Kentucky’s on my mind” hook really sticks, though you could maybe twist it a bit in a spot or two just to keep things fresh. Love the mix of nostalgia and humor running through it

Funny story on that , The cowriter and I had a big blow out over politics , We never talked again . Pretty stupid looking back at it now , since I hate politics

  • Yeah, politics can be the death of even the best creative partnerships. As a former Kentucky boy myself, this one really came and found me where I live inside :-)

  • Yeah that was stupid , I voted once , Never again , I hate politics and all media

    Thanks

    Hi Elvis,

I got to agree with you about the demo over Ai, If you're able to get the demo done do it.
