Blown away

Blown away
[verse]
There’s thunder in the distance;
A storm is on the way.
The wind has begun to blow.
Trees are starting to sway.
I hear a locomotive.
The suns’ taken refuge.
I’m huddled in the cellar,
till the train passes through.
[pre chorus]
The cellar doors tremble.
They fight to survive.
I fear some of my friends.
may not be alive.
[chorus]
All the storm has left behind
is misery and pain.
All that i hold near and dear;
forever blown away.
[verse]
Now there is only silence.
A time to shed our tears.
Our house, our car, our best friends.
They are no longer here.
The barn is in a cornfield.
A dead cows’ in a tree.
The consequence of this storm.
will forever haunt me.
[Pre chorus]
I still have the nightmares;
I hear the freight train.
I see faces of friends.
the storm stole away.
[chorus]
All the storm has left behind
is misery and pain.
All that I held near and dear;
forever blown away.
[bridge]
Beneath the debris
lay memories.
Torn to pieces by the wind.
A home and a life of innocence
that I’ll never see again.
[outro]
Forever, forever
forever blown away.
Forever, forever
forever blown away.

  • Wow, that's a powerful piece, we don't get those kinds of storms in the U.K. and thank God for that.

    You paint a terrifying picture Carroll, vivid and fearful.

    Put me right in the middle of it, scary!

    Another brilliant song.

    Hats off........

    Sid

  • @carroll - Anybody who's been in a tornado can appreciate this piece.. I was in one when I lived in Oklahoma, haunting experience.. hit some houses around us, but left ours alone.

  • will try to post song.
  • Here is the song done with Suno.

  • @carroll - great choice of music for the lyrics.. they really complement them. really catchy..

  • Took me a few takes to get the right prompts
  • @carroll - it does and what's frustrating is that it's burning credits in the process

  • Yep, I only use the free version. So it's 3 tries and I'm done for the day! Have friend using the upgraded version and he loves it. Says it gives you a lot of options for better control and editing. I'm on a fixed income so there's that.

  • Good choice of music/vocals Carroll, drives your words home.

  • Some really strong visuals here, and I like the train motif too. Portrays power as well as noise.

    The chorus is set in the aftermath, past tense but I wonder if it would give it more immediacy and impact in the present tense:

    All this storm is bringing

  • would completely have to restructure the chorus.
  • @carroll , love this vivid writing very cool , fits right in with other weather songs posted here , very nice !

  • I agree with everyone here, this is a strong lyric. I can feel the anxiety between the lines.

    Great stuff!

  • Thanks!
