Ghosts In My Soul
https://audiomack.com/nashvillecalif/song/ghosts-mix-1
There were a few times almost lost my life
Costly mistakes telling myself wrong was right
Booby traps tragedies feeling like a living hell
And why I'm still standing its so hard to tell
pre
But I out last the cold memories
My nightmares will never poison my dreams
Chorus
Ghosts in my soul
breaks in my heart
But a sunrise I step out of the dark
I don't stay down to long
On anything that's gone
I survive with the scars
With Ghosts in my soul
And breaks in my heart
v2
I love a good song by James Taylor
"Fire And Rain " in his mansion I sing it in my trailer
He might agree no free pass's on this planet
We shouldn't take one minute for granted
pre
The storms crack and sun shines on everyone
We got hold it together and not come undone
Chorus
Ghosts in our soul
And breaks in our heart
But a sunrise we step out of the dark
We don't stay down to long
On anything that's gone
We survive with the scars
With Ghosts in our soul
And breaks in our heart
Bridge
in my mind I’m in the Caribbean with Jesus
With a glass of wine in our hands
Shooting the breeze on life and love
Blue water corral and sand
chorus
Ghosts in my soul
And breaks in my heart
But this sunrise I feel like Mozart
I don't stay down to long
On anything that's gone
I survive with the scars
With Ghosts in my soul
Yeah Ghosts in my soul
And breaks in my heart

This is a very good song, I would imagine technically very difficult to put together.
Lots of intricate bits going on in there, but coming together into one really good piece.
Enjoyed that, well done.
Thanks for sharing,
Sid

Cool song, Elvis. Love the way you turned it into 'our...' and I love 'breaks in my heart'; cool way of saying brokenhearted! And the back up singers, too!

Hey Sid
Yeah it takes some work to tie all the parts together
Thanks man
Hey Bill0 -
It's a really good song. Did you play all the instruments? Have you ever worked with a singer? I think with a different singer it would be something that could be played on the radio.

. Radio is fantasy Rob , I get the point across for a singer -songwriter . Sure I could hire a killer singer , then it would not be my song , No ones getting on radio but MAJORS , and huge dollars to do so . You find your lane and stick to it ,

It would still be your song! Lots of major bands are like that and the writer gets all the credit. You don't even need to hire a singer; just find someone who will do it for free. Lots of singer will just to do it for fun or think that it may lead to something.
I also didn't mean necessarily "the radio" but that could happen. You don't know if you will be on the Grammy's next year or sometime in the future. It doesn't necessarily take huge dollars either. It could be you. Don't underestimate yourself. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't happen as well. Just go with it.

I don't pitch songs anymore , that's a fantasy also . Nobody in Nashville needs anybody songs , Did that for 20 years , No thanks , it's bullshit . Have you heard of losing the farm ? That when you lose houses over trying to sell songs . I've seen it....no thanks . You want to buy my house back for me over Nashvilles bullshit ? , I don't think so . But you keep that fantasy alive Rob .

I know a musician who went to Nashville, worked at odd jobs for many years but then somehow got noticed by the biggest stars, including the legends. They are not a star themselves now but they work very closely with them. I remember another talented musician in my area kind of putting them down as they were "wasting their life in Nashville" but years later when they "made it" they aren't saying that now. I don't want to name this person out of privacy to them but I attest that what I say about them is absolutely true.

I'm not moving to Nashville at 71 years old and wash dishes , Them days are gone . Pitching songs via internet is bullshit . You lose the farm . Staff writers get the cuts in Nashville , the rest is bullshit , Its a small circle ...and I'm not in it .
Thats what Nashville wants if publishers took AI songs , They don't , So you pay 3k for something like that
Sorry we don't want that , Oh well your out 3k , Seen it all 400 songs ago . If you're in Nashville . 30 years old and a dream . Yes it could happen .

What's that you lost your house trying ? We don't care its business

This is great, love the nightmares and dreams line, surviving the scars, all of it. Love everything about this one, the music is wayyyy better on your version than the suno version. Drinking with Jesus could be a great hook all by itself. Really good writing Elvis!

I'm not at all saying to go to Nashville; just that success with original music or just being a musician is possible. People get "discovered" online. People sell their music online. Before I was on bandcamp someone wanted to buy an album of my music but there was no way to do it at the time. If I recorded some better quality and complete songs, focused and marketed them I may be able to build it into something but I'm not interested in that at the moment.
I'm glad you're still writing and recording. At it's basic music should be done because it's fun, feels good, etc, not necessarily selling millions of albums.

Nashville a tuff nut to crack , You gotta be there to win the prize , Its a 10 year town , if you don't make it , then time to move to back to California, I've been at this a long time . Online ? I tried that , no good . But some Nashville promoter is giving me a price on God's Caddilac to promote , will see how it goes
Thanks Barry , mines more funk soul , The AI is typical vanilla Nashville vibe . I can't sing that
Thanks man

I forgot to add that the fact is older age can be the best, most productive and successful time. It's true. History has proven this with some of the most famous artists. At 70 one can be just getting started. Most people at this age still have significant time to enjoy a number of years like they never had before.

I'm still cutting songs as the artist , But you hit a nerve on business . No fun man .
Thanks Rob

Good song Elvis!
To be honest, I feel like they've done too much in this mix. That bluesy guitar at the start felt really powerful, the first 30 seconds or so felt the best to me. I reckon it got a bit too intricate with all the extras kicking in. I know it's got to build a bit as you go, but maybe there's a way to pare it back after a break and do the slow build up again or something like that?

Really ? Sounds fine to me

Well that's the main thing! 😁
