LOVE WITHOUT MEASURE

Cove

I wrote the first two verses to this a little over a year ago. I got stuck on the third verse, So I sent it to a friend, Jim Rogers who lives on Northern Ky. Just south the Ohio river from Cincinatti. The next morning it was in my inbox.

It's in the eyes of a child

the wagging tail of a pup

it's a hand reaching out

to help some poor soul up

it's a visit from an old friend

when you're down and alone

It's a family waiting for

their soldier coming home

chorus

I can feel it in the air

over here, over there

here's to those who wear

their hearts upon their sleeves

for there is no greater treasure

than love without measure

such a blessing and a pleasure

to give and receive

It was the smell of mother's kitchen

how I loved the holidays

It's how my father worshipped her

'til the day he passed away

so, take it all in, toss it around

it's abundant and it's free

I'll throw all my love at you

you can throw yours back at me

repeat chorus

As life goes on

as the years roll by

and the seasons change

in the blink of an eye

love will be there

like it's always been

so, when love comes a knocking

open up and let it in

repeat chorus

Man, I love this, the lyrics are amazing the way they state the obvious things that are easy to miss when you don't take the time to look.

  • Second song of yours I've heard tonight. What a great voice, and fabulous lyrics. Some really nice intrumentation too. The key change worked well. A great track.😀

  • Nice! My favourite lines are:

for there is no greater treasure

    than love without measure

    Simple and effective.

What a fabulous song, well written capturing the essence of what love is all about.

The laid back vocals were ideal for the message.

    Loved it, well done.

@ Owen Thanks Owen My favorite is in the 2nd verse about my mom and pop. Mother would spend two days cooking before Thanksgiving and Christmas until she got sick. I don't recall my dad ever saying he loved me. I also don't recall him ever missing a single one of my baseball and football games and he would boast about me to his friends. Actions speak louder than words, I suppose.

Strong lyric. Kudos. I'm not crazy abut the music or the singing. But, at least they're real, and I do appreciate that. It gets a little tiresome clicking on things here just to discover another AI waste of my time. :)

@ChrisPrice Thanks very much Chris and good ear on the key change! It's kind of subtle and quick. You're the first to mention it.

@HoboSage Thanks for listening and your honest opinion. I'm pleased you like the lyrics. My vocals and music are what they are and ain't what they ain't I suppose. Some like 'em and some don't. I just listened and left a comment on your song "Spring". Really nice! looking forward to hearing more from you. Thanks again!
