@Kayla813 Love your opening lines and keep hearing the lines repeated, like insanity herself! I hear it like this and this is NOT saying that your way is wrong:

And I wouldn't be afraid to sing those lines again somewhere near the end, perhaps.

Your chorus, I like the triple rhymes as well. And I'm assuming the part that starts with "Wish we stayed friends..." is the Bridge?

Maybe try something like this for the Bridge so it connects better:

Wish we'd stayed friends

Instead of becoming lovers

Maybe then, ya'd still be here

??? and I'm stuck!! 🤣

And lastly, your title, you might try using in your chorus like, maybe: You flew away....Couldn't make you stay....My heart breaks today. This would also give you a nice inner chime; 'make' & 'breaks' I hope somehow, I've been helpful.
