Words, spat in a coffee cup
Swallow them down
Warmth fades from your face
Leaving the bitter taste of Goodbye
And I can't unsay the words that broke us apart
Can't unfeel the weight of what we've become
Words, hang in the empty air
Now that you're gone
Silence, echoes of anger
What have we done?
And I can't unsay the words that broke us apart
Can't unfeel the weight of what we've become
Words, words, just words

Wow, deep, @RainyDayMan really love the peotic and poignant lyric. And now will listen. Thanks for posting! That Uk is so pretty sounding the way you pluck her strings. I also really like the one word title. All that's needed on this.

Lovely, literally built your song around one word. The beauty and brutality of words and the fact that you can't unsay what's been said.
I like this one a lot, from all perspectives it's a beautiful song.
Did you know George Harrison favoured the Uke over the guitar.

Thank you both!
@sidshovel No I did not know that! And yet he is known as a guitarist. It suggests a limited role for Ukulele!

Yes, it's no coincidence that the last song in his memorial concert was "I'll see you in my dreams" sung by his close friend, Joe Brown playing just the Uke.

@RainyDayMan This is very good! Your new ukulele skills are coming right along. Do you plan to integrate the ukulele into future songs that feature your great lead guitar work? It would be interesting to hear. 😀
Cheers,

@icystorm Thanks Joseph! At the moment, probably not. To be honest the Ukulele sounds a bit thin to me, and this specific one is always drifting out of tune. I'll do one more stand alone track, then we'll see. I haven't tried combining the two instruments, and I probably should give that a go at least once though.

@RainyDayMan That uke has really inspired you. Like your track the other day, this is lovely. Again some very nice lyrics too. Like Joseph, I too think you should integrate the uke into some of your guitar songs. It's a great instrument and you're clearly getting to grips with it very quickly. 😀

@ChrisPrice Thanks Chris! Ok, you and Joseph have convinced me that I should at least try integrating the two, so I'll give that a whirl once I've got my third uke song down.

Really well done, @RainyDayMan . Powerful lyrics, and the perfect simple instrumentation to support them. I personally love the sound of a uke, but have never had the chance to really play one.
The ending to this song is great - leaves you wanting more, maybe similar to the relationship the lyrics are describing.

Words are powerful, and you put them on full display. The ukulele gave a subtle satisfying color to the song. Nice shade of blue.

Tells a very complete story without wasting a lot of excessive detail or words. I think the "spare storytelling" of the lyric is a really good example of "what to include and what to leave out." I thought it had just the right amount of story told. Not so much that there is nothing left to the listener's imagination, but enough that almost everyone will find a story from their own lives to identify with it. I liked the ukelele music. . . but thought it needed some additional instrumentation. I also thought the ukelele music needed to be softened a little in the mix. A little less 'clangy'. Perhaps with a filter between the mic and the instrument? Loved the listen.
