Yes, you can just see Lennon sitting there at the white piano singing this.

Thanks for sharing, it is exceptional.

It has to get you thinking that when you go down the Billboard top 20, and hear what people consider good music, how many more diamonds are still in the dust!

Less about quality and talent and more about brand and promotion.

  • Beautiful song, outstanding

Wouldn't have the lyrics to hand would you?

    Sid

  • Sorry Sid! Lost as part of the prev version of the site I think.

  • Shame, lovely song, thanks for posting

  • Wow. Fantastic. Found an album of his on Apple Music that I'll certainly be listening to on the drive home tonight. Very rich with Elliot Smith vibes.

  • And another. Helge joined the forum, dropped this little gem and disappeared.

He wrote it for his niece who was in a dark place at the time

  • check out his "Magnolia" on YT, it's good.

  • Lonely Bird is really nicely written and performed. I can see how it might stay with you. His voice reminds me a bit of Elliot Smith.
  • Hey this is me! I got a comment from someone on soundcloud from this thread which after a little digging led me here. Im very grateful to have my music posted here.

I kind of fell off of social media and sharing music after my second kid was born but I have still been writing and recording. Glad to be back in the community and looking forward to sharing and listening!
  • Wonderful to see you again! Hope you've got some music to share with us soon!

  • @OutOfTowner - I'm pretty new to the forum, but your Lonely Bird song on this thread jumped out at me. I would bet we share some musical influences!
  • Here's another one that sticks in my mind. Written about the Covid lockdown: Mr Distance by Shrimptastic

  • Fantastic, what a gem.

Check out the one that follows on SoundCloud, On the Eastside, another good one.

Thanks for that RDM, you have good taste.

  • Matt Henderson has some great songs. This is the first one I heard from him, and still my favorite.

  • Another excellent choice, this thread's a cross between "This is your Life"an' "Desert Island Discs".

really enjoying your selects, good taste.

Here's a festive suggestion for a bit of lighthearted fun.

It's based on the 12 days of xmas

Each person playing the game submits an established (not their own) song based on the subject of each day.

The best song based on your selection is played the following day. {posted on SoundCloud}.

e.g, 1st day, A partridge in a pear tree. two subjects allowed, partridge or pear. (allowed variants, bird, fly, or fruit only)

    Might be fun.

    Sid

  • Ok. We'll give that a try. Not sure about the posting part, but we can see what songs people come up with. 1st Dec seems a good day to begin (Australian time!)

  • Thank you for sharing Lonely Bird, Rainy Day Man. I can see why it stuck in your memory; great tune!

    hummer

  • Doesn't seem to be much interest in 12 days of xmas, so I let it slide.

  • James Gilmartin has a unique vocal style and beautiful poetic lyrics. But it's just as well he posted the lyrics as otherwise it would be difficult to make them all out!

I've never gotten this one out of my head

I think on you, James Gilmartin

  • What a true talent. Thank you for sharing Rainy Day!

  • I had to listen to this twice. When the vocals first started I was kind of thrown off but as the song continues I couldn’t imagine it another way. Compelling melody and beautiful restraint with the vocal harmonies. The part of the guitar solo that almost throws a dead note is just fantastic and raw. Such a composed piece, thanks for sharing.
