I like the chorus, and the final chorus in particular with its extra line.
The melody in the verses seems a little less defined and memorable.

Super country tune Elvis ! . . . very well written. I think the lyrics are quite brilliant, especially liking the way they don't always rhyme, but still kind of do rhyme, with the way the ends of phrases work together. Lots to learn from there, for a songwriter. Very well sung, the vocals have a really good feel to them.

There is a Berklee teacher on youtube ( Actually her eyes look crazy , probably to many songs)... just hit the vowel in a rhyme..
She has a lot of tips . Which reminds me , I wonder how that Starbucks girl is doing that goes the Berklee college , We had a few laughs on music , I envy her , 4 years of college on music , all that jazz. She asked my opinion on theory. Well whatever you can fit in before the 1 comes back around lol.

Thanks for the link. Yeah, your technique sounds very good. I would love to do that with my demos in a studio with studio musicians and a high quality producer and engineer. I would also produce because I know how I want everything to sound and I would not want studio musicians deviating from the song I've composed.

For me, songwriting is a fun hobby. I have no plans to try to make it into something more.

The title and refrain are very compelling - lots of associations go with the phrase. The scene is also compelling - gives a strong feeling of the bayou. Nicely done.

Well its a tuff biz to make money , thats another subject . I don't think its changed much , great connections , starter money , Tour to ya drop to make a name . Probably harder today with a billion artists on the net
