Two articles caught my attention today 25/May. Both related to public service

One concerned the planting of flags on the graves of 246,000 U.S. servicepersons ahead of memorial day.

The second, 80 Tory MP's jumping ship rather than face the ignominy of potential defeat at the upcoming elections!

[intro]

[verse 1]

The doors burst open and the group came in,

dressed from head to toe, eyes started turnin'.

Queen Bee in the centre, gave directions,

drones circled, ready to carry out her actions.

[verse 2]

The Party Girl had her VIP spot in the bar

a Black Hole, ready to swallow the stars.

Court of last appeal showed little mercy,

were you in or out, was up to the Party.

[chorus]

Forget who put you here, bow to the Queen,

You're called a backbencher for a reason.

Never heard, and definitely never seen,

obey, or we'll whip you for your treason.

[verse 3]

This isn't a meritocracy, no one really cares,

it's all about position, your orbit around her.

Bring your gifts, and lay them at her feet,

spot at the trough, gorge on all you can eat.

[chorus]

Forget who put you here, bow to the Queen,

You're called a backbencher for a reason.

Never heard, and definitely never seen,

obey, or we'll whip you for your treason.

[verse 4]

Remember all they taught, at that Private School,

our rules are there for a reason, don't play the fool.

Party Girl pulls the strings, you jiggle up and down

plans on being a Minister? start acting like a clown.

[bridge]

Party Girl's the Queen Bee, she dishes out the honey,

Want a share for you and yours, learn to follow the Mone!

[chorus]

Forget who put you here, bow to the Queen,

You're called a backbencher for a reason.

Never heard, and definitely never seen,

obey, or we'll whip you for your treason.

[outro]

We thank you for your service.

  • Ouch! Biting and bitter. I'm not over UK politics, but it sure paints a sad picture, though politics is seldom pretty anywhere.

  • Yup politics , I avoid it like the black plague

    Good song Sid

  • Despite the bitterness of the lyrics, I found this to be musically beautiful and was taken by the singing and groove. Thank you for posting!

    Cheers,

  • Well, it's all politics here in the UK just now with our forthcoming general election. The politicians and the media alike are currently bombarding us with an endless stream of meaningless drivel, after which it will then be business as usual. New day, same s*** !!

Like religion, I choose to avoid politics with my music.

Clever lyrics Sid. I tip my hat to you for your words, though not sure that I go along with them entirely on this occasion.
