The other Spanish Eyes lyrics only
verse 1
"Hey! You with the Spanish eyes get on your knees
Put your hands behind your back and face the wall
Be quiet until I call your name then answer me
From now on, you're all called Poncho, say si, si."
[Chorus]
Soon I'll be back
Giving you all the forms your hands can hold
Just say "sí, sí"
Take you back to Mexico and set you free
verse 2
Hey Spanish eyes, answer the questions I ask
Tell the truth, none of those clannish lies
If you dont understand, just say si, si,
I'll write it down for you, put your trust in me
[Chorus]
Soon I'll be back
Giving you all the forms your hands can hold
Just say "sí, sí"
Take you back to Mexico and set you free
bridge
"You, Spanish eyes
Stop moaning and making all that Spanish noise
Kneel down in the dirt
With the rest of those Spanish boys."
[Chorus]
Soon I'll be back
Giving you all the forms your hands can hold
Just say "sí, sí"
Take you back to Mexico and set you free

Interesting lyrics, Sid. What inspired you to write song? What genre do you envision for it?

Overall I like it, Sid. Quite the critique!
I found "clannish lies" a little awkward, the rhyme a bit too obvious, but that's a personal reaction.
I think "Hey Spanish eyes" would make a lovely start to the chorus, but I don't think you can have it both ways, both in the verse and in the chorus too so that might end up being a major rewrite.
I can imagine this ending on "Yeah, taking you back to Mexico gonna set you free" or similar.
Good stuff!

Thanks for your comments guys, fair and helpful as usual, appreciated.
Inspiration for many songs is usually triggered by news reports from BBC or Guardian
In this case, one report on farmer shooting migrant and another on bridge collapse in which 6 people
(S. American ethnicity) died.
Not sure what genre that falls under: social commentary/protest
Thanks
Sid
