Pub Love (ft. Sarah Paradise-Brown)

I've recently started working with Sarah rather a lot. This is one of the first songs she sang with me - it had been destined for the opening of a concept album with Alyssa Womack who some of you may remember from Reflections but for now this is a 'solo' release.

Ok... I'm just having a pint after work, y'know, it's been a long day - it's me right.

Well, I see this very attractive woman: she doesn't look happy, mind, she looks sad.

Me? Well, I'm here on vacation. I'm just a country girl in the city, where there's lots of twits about. Well... not as many as you'd think actually. Ah, still, I was very lonely... and then I saw him, in a pub...

and so it began...

Well, everyone was still and now they dance around

It’s like the music is grooving through the fabric of the town

You look to me and the fire glows

The landlord laughs and everybody knows

A few words, a hello, a 'how-do-you-do'

You stupid bloody peasant and the words that you use

You know it’s not the vodka that’s burning in my veins

It’s the power of love igniting into flames

It’s like ghosts of lightning

Striking and drawing me near

It’s like ghosts of lightning

My heart beats louder than the thunder I hear

There’s you

And there’s you

And there’s me

There’s nobody else that I can see

All these years, I’ve waited for

You will complete me from this day

A man to lean on and adore

A look will do when words won’t say

I try to talk and for once my words

Come out my mouth and are clearly heard

I listen I laugh - you’re a goofy prick

I toss my hair as I feel us click

It’s like my life so far has been biding time

Til I meet you and my world begins to rhyme

I see all the colours that were hidden in haste

When I learned the pain of love laid waste

It’s like ghosts of lightning

Striking and drawing me near

It’s like ghosts of lightning

My heart beats louder than the thunder I hear

So, there’s you

And there’s you

And there’s me

There’s nobody else that I can see

All these years, I’ve waited for

You will complete me from this day

A love to protect and adore

A look will do when words can’t say

Do... you think ye mightn't fancy another?

Well, I suppose... but only if you're paying

  • Good fun sound. Bit of a cross between Jim Steinman and the B52s.

    Enjoyed my listen.

  • Get em CC , the british invasion

    Sounds good man !!!

  • I heard this song on another forum and I loved it and today I loved it again because of its special color and the interesting arrangement with which you have wrapped it!

The lyric is great and the contrast of the voices, her and him, make it worthy of a music hall

    Buen trabajo @CorkingCrackBand

  • Yes, I too heard it on the other forum a bit back and raved about it. Again, I love this. Madness meets Meatloaf. Sounds like it belongs in a film or a musical. Great stuff.😀

  • Wow, this is one of the most lively and vibrant songs I've heard on a forum. I loved it immediately for its fun energy, great craftsmanship, super vocals and a level of professionalism that is inspiring. Great job and congratulations!
