Praise The Lord (But Evolution Makes More Sense)

Verse 1

Grandma kept a Bible

By the bed at night

Said angels watched the sinners

Under neon lights

Preacher on the corner

Talking fire and rain

But I watched the strong survive

And the weak feel pain

Chorus

Praise the Lord… if it helps you sleep

But evolution makes more sense to me

We're just dust learning how to breathe

Trying to outrun eternity

Pray all night, fall on your knees

But the jungle still grows in the streets

Praise the Lord… if it helps you cope

But evolution wrote the rules we broke

Verse 2

Saw a man get lucky

Saw a good man lose

Heaven didn’t answer

When he paid his dues

Nature never promised

Fair or kind or clean

Just the ones still standing

Living in between

Chorus

Praise the Lord… if it helps you sleep

But evolution makes more sense to me

We're just dust learning how to breathe

Trying to outrun eternity

Pray all night, fall on your knees

But the jungle still grows in the streets

Praise the Lord… if it helps you cope

But evolution wrote the rules we broke

Bridge (Outlaw / talk-sung)

No halos in the mirror

Just scars and DNA

We climbed out of the darkness

And we're still that way

Final Chorus (Lift)

Praise the Lord… I ain't saying you're wrong

We all need something to lean on

But the wolves still howl at the moon

And the weak still fade too soon

Faith might help you carry on

But survival's been here all along

Praise the Lord… I still might when I'm scared

But evolution put me here

Nuclear Ending (your style)

And heaven might forgive you…

But nature never cared

This never fails I get in a argument with someone and I get a hook out of it

In real life the shit flys but in the end we laugh it off

Online it don't work to well

Elvis them catholic nun's would take a ruler and wack you across knuckles for this one.

But then I don't know if you went to catholic school or not.

Sounds like your less than half in and a lot more than half out.

Looks like your having fun with it anyway.

Broke what rules? - But evolution wrote the rules we broke

Evolution happens out of necessity, not because of broken religion rules

DNA has nothing to do with religious beliefs. Atheism isn't a byproduct of DNA coding to adapt. There is no religious encoding embedded in the DNA strand. My mom was Catholic, yet my sister and I are agnostic. not because of genetics, but because of personal choice. My mom chose not to force religion on us and allowed us to make personal choices for ourselves.

Tadpoles evolve, but do they believe in god? maybe they do.

Nature is nature, it has no horse in the race.

  • yup half in , half out Tex

actually it sums it up pretty well , I say praise the lord when I'm scared . Life and realities focus on evolution and making it, I see everyday . There's no magic man paying by bills in a ression were in now . My mom was beaten by Nuns in the convent her mom thru her in . My granddad was low level mafia and was murdered , thats why she in a convent . He mother could not afford to raise her . I never heard praise the lord once growing up . I really heard praise the lord dealing with hit writers in Nashville .

Here's what happened with Marty Dodson , I went over somebody's head rewriting song , cuz she did not pay her way on demo costs , He said lucky you are not sued , I also said to some writer I'm glad my dads dead , I have become the man now and not under his thumb . So I got banned on Songtown . Every thing I say is to reach for other idea . if this was real life in a writers room we would discussed the idea and not taking it offensive

  • Ok, I think you are speaking in the figurative sense. that line evolution wrote the rules we broke sounds good, but doesn't have any meaning. but it really doesn't have to as nobody in a bar singing along with this song is going to care :)

its not a singalong song , its a thinking song . You don't know that unless I released it as an artist . do I want to ? I don't think so country music is Bible Belt related . or I do and take the risk like Girl Crush . Thats a 180 from every country song . I know exactly what my producer will say , this makes perfect sense and Nicky V in Nashville . why would I care what Bible Belt Nashville thinks ?

  • thinking for whom? this isn't a country song either. but it's your song and it makes sense to you :)

Girl crush isn't about woman wanting to have relationship with other women, it's her trying to understand what her mate sees in the other woman that he screwed around with. there wasn't any risk to releasing it ;) it's actually a brilliant song from the song writing perspective. don't give away the point at the beginning of the song. this song leads you on until the end when these two lines - Yeah, 'cause maybe then /You'd want me just as much , tells you what the song is about :)

It got heat cuz it was controversy on lesbians . Mine is the same thing on religion. But I'll think about it I've got 40 songs I can do, in the end girl crush got song of the year

the song has nothing to do with being a lesbian, Elvis. the song is not about that at all. the point of the song is that it's she's trying to understand why the other woman and not her. She wants to be with her to get a better understanding of why he chose the other woman over her. her mate had an affair and she wants to know why

I know that but it got heat is was about lesbians , I remember the heat it got . I remember the comments , religious nuts came out of the wood work

  • Ok, had to look it up and yes, it was written in such a way to be controversial. they all knew that, but, everybody from the ones that wrote it to little big town, say it's not about that.

I'm just not seeing the controversy in your lyrics, but then that's me, even though my mom was catholic, she never forced religion on us. so, I have a very different view on religion.

I already said 4 times it's not about lesbians , Thats the heat they got from religious nuts . There were 10000's of comments saying its about lesbians .Back to my song , I think I'll trash this

  • why trash your song. it's a good song. well written and well crafted. if you put it out there, it will do great.

is it worth 450 to record it , thats my option

  • it will resonate with those that unlike me, have a non-scientific approach to religion :)

  • It will not relate to Bible Belt Nashville folks its a 180 on what they would sing

I'd still record it, if $450 is doable and put it up on youtube and see what kind of responses you get. look what girl crush did for little big town.

this song might work well as micro-tonal 😁

  • Yeah they got heat , ok so would I , sound like a good idea and mess with Nashville

  • They got exposure, which was the point.

If you're going to shit can, I'll cover these lyrics, I have an idea for them. :)

Bz went to college for it and 30 years experience . Real mixes can take hours

Its funny Suno mixes them for free and done in 4 seconds

the difference is that bz can do what Suno can't. put the human element into the mix. Suno is based on a template. I can bet that his mixes don't sound identical. on one my of my tracks, I heard the same exact note for note opening on 3 songs that were on youtube. a human engineer could avoid that.

Even though Suno's programming has improved, there are still issues with it, like not respecting the prompts. it's still hit and miss.

He just mixed this before he left for Paris . The 2nd guitar is more distinct now

This will have 000000s in-between lines in chorus and repeating lines in last chorus on BGV's

Yes he mixed left and right . The oooooos will work on BGv's on imagination song

its same kind of stucture so the ooooooos will work on this maybe

All this really is acoustic . some shakers on the right

  • A programmed mix on suno songs makes sense , real mixes takes time and a human ear
