Don't Call Me A Dog

Verse 1

You throw the word “dog” like it makes you tall

Like names are power, like bark beats law

Say it with a smile like you won the fight

But cheap words echo, they don’t bite

I don’t beg at doors, don’t fetch your pride

I smell a lie before it opens wide

If I stayed quiet, that wasn’t fear

That was me deciding who’s worth bein’ near

Pre-Chorus

You dress contempt up like wit

But cruelty ain’t clever — it just is

Chorus

Don’t call me a dog like that’s the end

You throw stones, then ask where the good men went

You want devotion without respect

Loyalty you don’t protect

You say “dog” like it’s somethin’ low

Funny how that word tells me all I need to know

Don’t call me a dog — learn the cost

You don’t lose dogs

You drive them off

Verse 2

You love men wild till they won’t kneel

Love the truth till it starts to feel

Praise strength long as it stays tame

Then act surprised when it won’t play your game

You want fire that won’t burn you back

Want a backbone that bends on command

Call me a dog if it helps you sleep

But don’t cry wolf when it won’t be me

Chorus

Don’t call me a dog like I’m beneath

You sharpen labels, then blame my teeth

You want a shield, not a spine

A man on mute, right on time

You say “dog” like I should feel small

But I stood my ground — I didn’t crawl

Don’t call me a dog — check the loss

You don’t lose dogs

You drive them off

Bridge

I didn’t leave ‘cause I couldn’t stay

I left when respect walked the other way

Keep the word if it helps you cope

I kept my name — and I kept my code

Final Chorus

Don’t call me a dog — say what you mean

You want control without accountability

You want loyalty you never earn

You want warmth but refuse the burn

You call men dogs, then act surprised

When nobody comes when you cry

Don’t call me a dog — do the math

The ones who stay

Don’t take that crap

The whole thing sounds awesome. creative rhymes and word choices that stay with the theme.

My only crit would be the last 2 lines, they sound cool, but he left because he didn't take her crap. Then at the end, the ones who stay don't take crap. The ones who stay are taking the crap, in my thinking.

The ones who won't stay / Don't take that crap - or something like that would fit better. just my opinion.

  • That is a cliche men are all dogs , So I messed with It

The ones who stay are taking the crap that could better ..
